Beschreibung

The truth has never been elegant. This is not an autobiography. It’s a confession.A raw, intimate journey through invisible scars, untold weaknesses, and unapologetic feminine power. Most of you know me as Dalia…But behind that name, there’s a woman no one really knows. Now it’s time to strip even that away. And tell my story. For real.

His wife died before their second son turned one. How can he keep her memory alive when there's so much he wants to forget?

There was a time before his wife got sick when Gonzalo could think about other things. Where humor was more than a coping mechanism. Life wasn't all about treatments and recovery, or the emptiness he felt when she died.

They had kids together. Young kids. Less than a year after their youngest was born and suddenly he was strapping them both into their car seats to drive to their mother's funeral.

He used to think he was the glue holding the household together. It didn't take long for him to realize how wrong he'd been. A grieving husband is in no condition to raise kids alone. There were times when he wanted to toss himself into a raging river that would suck him under and bash his skull on the rocks. That's always an option for another day. For now, he'll just squash those feelings and drive the kids to daycare.

Does it get easier? Of course. But not right away. They say that hope only comes at the end of a long dark journey, but that isn't entirely true because the journey never really ends. But that means there's good news: hope is everywhere you look.

This book may be for you if:You experienced shocks while your mom was carrying you inside, you were hospitalised or had surgery when very young, or if you experienced a loss or bereavement at a tender age.Maybe you were living in an environment that was apparently functioning, where anxiety was the familiar state of the parent, or where due to previous unresolved trauma the caregiver could look after your physical needs, but could not emotionally connect. Or,You grew up in a household with visible dysfunction, substance abuse, violence or severe mental illness.
Or like me, maybe you:Are one the “difficult clients” from the point of view of health practitioners – you keep coming back but nothing ever works. Are very earnest in your desire to grow and change, and in spite of your best efforts, are stuck in patterns that don't resolve with the usual approach.Feel there must be something fundamentally wrong with you, and had this feeling compounded with each further failed endeavour at healing or growth.Despair of anything ever changing for the better.

"As a major fan and promoter of Julian of Norwich, whom I call 'my favorite mystic', it is genuinely exciting to find such a faithful but freeing translation of Julian's long-lost Showings. Now they are no longer lost—for anyone!"—Fr. Richard Rohr, O.F.M., Center for Action and Contemplation
In this contemporary translation of one of the most beloved and influential mystical texts of all time, Julian of Norwich: The Showings brings the message and spirituality of this 14th-century mystic to 21st-century readers. Revelations of Divine Love, the first book published in English attributed to a woman, is also included.
Julian of Norwich, a contemporary of Geoffrey Chaucer, was an English anchoress in East Anglia. At the age of 30, suffering from a severe illness and believing she was on her deathbed, Julian had a series of intense visions of Jesus, which she recorded and then expanded on later in her life. In her visions, God was not angry and wrathful. Instead, the three properties of God were presented as life, love, and light, and all of His creation was good, including his servant, man. In Julian's version, man is not to blame for his sin; sin is something that he must experience and overcome in his spiritual journey with God.
Her message for today's readers is simply this:
She reveals the feminine face of the Divine and reminds us to see God there. All our failings are an opportunity to learn and grow; they should be honored, but not dwelled upon.God's love has nothing to do with love and retribution and everything to do with love and compassion. In spite of all appearances, all is well. This book contains some of the most profound spiritual writing ever written and remains a perennial favorite among Christians.
This book was previously published as The Showings of Julian of Norwich. This new edition includes a foreword by Richard Rohr, author of Falling Upwards.

The Antebellum South, the period in American history before the Civil War, was a time of immense social, economic, and political turbulence. In this era, women of the South played crucial roles, yet their lives were shaped by complex systems of power, race, and class that significantly influenced their identities and experiences. The women of the Antebellum South, particularly those in the planter class, were often seen through the lens of their domestic roles—wives, mothers, and caretakers—but their contributions went far beyond these confines.
For white Southern women, the plantation system defined much of their existence. These women were raised to be the wives of wealthy landowners, and their lives were deeply connected to the economic and social systems that kept the plantation economy thriving. They managed large households, oversaw domestic servants (often enslaved people), and ensured that the daily needs of the family were met. While their lives were marked by relative comfort and privilege compared to many of their Northern counterparts, this privilege came at a cost—mainly the complicity in and active support of slavery. Their social status and wealth were intertwined with the exploitation of enslaved Africans, and the power dynamics within the household mirrored the racial and gender hierarchies of the time.

"In the pre-Covid-19 era, being a digital globetrotter and getting to every country on earth seemed to be all the go, so Ian is certainly on to a trend" -

Tony Wheeler, co-founder of Lonely Planet

The Christopher Columbus of the 2000s. - A true and breathtaking story of dedication, perseverance, and innovation in entrepreneurship and alternative living. A testimony of how to push the limits of human curiosity to new boundaries.

What could you possibly learn from over twenty years spent circling around the globe, seventeen of them non-stop as a self-made digital entrepreneur? How much could your life change from exploring every single country of the world, a total of 230 countries including every single one of the 195 recognized by the United Nations? This is the account of an incredible journey with twists, turns, and perpetual adventures! Seventeen years living and working from a carry-on backpack, having only the bare essentials to live comfortably, along with a home office to fund travels through the wonder of passive income. The story of how a man destined to a promising engineering career became troubled by the prospect of living the rat race through a nine to five routine, triggering his nomadic instincts to choose a life where he dedicated every single day of his existence to living, breathing and experiencing freedom, adventure and wonder.

An inspiring testimony of alternative ways to live life outside the beaten track that we've always known. A reflection on the level of freedom one can enjoy when granting himself the right to do so. A thirst for knowledge guided by a desire to encounter fellow citizens of the world, from tribesmen to royalty, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, by means of land, sea and air. A journey motivated by only one desire; discover the unknown and to live every single day as if it was the last.

Giving up the security and comfort of western civilization is not the most intuitive thing to do. This is the story of a lifetime wanderlust dreamer who decides to throw away his freshly earned engineering diploma to risk an extraordinary path through life. The concept of online entrepreneurship was still unknown at the time, when this dreamer decided to pioneer a new lifestyle and go "all in" with a digital nomad set-up to fund his love of traveling. A journey that would slowly but surely guide him to and through every country of the world.

A long voyage that invariably brought a catalog of juicy unexpected anecdotes. His habit to always test the territory and socialize in the most diverse situations brought him to infiltrate tribes in Africa, the Middle East and the Pacific Islands, join the ranks of surf communities on the most remote seas, and even share meals with Mongolian Nomads as well as Afghan ministers. His unorthodox style of traveling brought him to navigate the seven seas from cargo ships to yachts, crossing international borders through Jungles on motorbikes, and even boarding intercontinental trains through tens of thousands of kilometers, many times bringing him face to face with the reality of the world such as the horrors of war in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq, while escaping the hands of terrorism on several occasions.

This is the story of a restless adventurer with a zest for life.
