Beschreibung

So many of us wish we had more energy, better abs, and sharper focus. Likewise, we often find ourselves wishing that we had better skin or hair. We wish that we could sleep better at night, and wish that it was a little bit easier to wake up (those last two points are related, by the way!).This has led to the emergence of numerous industries, all built around helping usto feel, look, and perform better. We spend huge amounts of cash on skincareproducts, on sleep supplements, and on gym memberships. We try all kinds ofcrazy things, whether that’s lying on a bed of gentle spikes to improve sleep (yes, that’s a real thing!), wearing blue-blocking shades all day, or wearing energyhealing crystals (which are about as effective as wishing really hard!).

The official authorized companion to the much-loved Netflix show Emily in Paris. Paris, J'Adore! is Emily Cooper's diary about her life in France so far. From leaving her boyfriend in Chicago to starting at marketing firm Savoir in Paris, it reveals all the thrill, fear and confusion Emily experiences as she embarks on her new life. She becomes acquainted not only with French workplace etiquette - the long lunches, the arguments, the determined reluctance to use social media - but also with Gabriel, the hottest chef in town. Some things, though, are beyond comprehension: like why the first floor in a Parisian apartment building is the second floor and the first floor is the ground floor. As the months go by, Emily learns how it's perfectly normal to have a glass of Sancerre for breakfast and how you should never turn up early at work. But more than anything, she learns about love, female friendships, and how exciting it is to step out of your comfort zone in this beautiful and intriguing city. Paris, J'Adore! is also a guidebook to how to be a Parisian, with tips on fashion, romance, and where to capture the perfect selfie in the City of Lights. Written in Emily's voice, it will contain the following sections: Emily's Fashion Paris - all about Emily's favourite outfits and designers - from Cadault to Chanel - as well as tips on what to wear to the beach, where to find the best boutiques, and how to dress like a Parisian; Emily's Romantic Paris - the best bridges to kiss and break up on, where you can find the most breathtaking views and the most perfect backstreets, why the magic of the Eiffel Tower twinkling at night is the most intoxicating backdrop to falling in love, and a selection of the most evocative French songs to sing along to; Emily's Secret Paris - where Parisians show Emily the real Paris, from the hamman in the Mosquée de Paris to the Atelier des Lumières, and from small independent French cinemas to delightful neighbourhood restaurants;   Emily's Workplace Paris - how to navigate tensions and emotions in a French boardroom, lunch and coffee break rituals, Sylvie's own version of Savoir's Employee Handbook, and how to teach the French about social media;   Emily's Escapades from Paris - including the delights of the Champagne region, the sheer glamour of Saint-Tropez and the opulence of the Château de Versailles. Paris, J'Adore! is a hugely desirable gift for all the fans of the show.

In THE LAND AND ITS PEOPLE, his first new collection since HAPPY-GO-LUCKY, David Sedaris reflects on what it means to be a foreigner, a brother, a lifelong friend. He tries on the role of caretaker after his boyfriend Hugh’s hip-replacement surgery, and both succeeds and fails. He buys his sister a cape and discusses his brother with a jaded Duolingo bot. He walks dozens of miles with his friend Dawn and challenges her to eat a truck tire. Ever adding to his list of “Countries I Have Been To,” he rides a horse named Tequila in Guatemala, buys a bespoke priest’s cassock in Vatican City, and goes on safari in Kenya without taking a single photo.   There is sadness here—scrolling through his address book, he realizes how many dear friends are now deceased—but also delight: he revels in authors’ biographies, the malapropism that becomes a decades-long inside joke, and pair of well-made cotton underpants. He is bitten by a dog. A train passenger vomits in his face. A woman on the street late at night either sexually harasses him or doesn’t. Look how hard it is to be alive!   Throughout these essays—at once acerbic and tender, playful and profound—Sedaris shows how much there is to marvel at when you keep your head up and your eyes open, observing with warmth and curiosity this fascinating human species and the lands we inhabit.

    LEONARDO DICAPRIO
THE ULTIMATE TRIVIA AND CURIOUS FACTS COLLECTION

    CREATED BY TRIVIA HUB

Leonardo DiCaprio is an American actor and film producer known for his work in biographical and period films. His career began in the late 1980s, with early roles in television before his film debut in 1991. He received critical acclaim for his role in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) and achieved international stardom with Titanic (1997). DiCaprio sought roles in other genres to shed his romantic hero image, including Catch Me If You Can (2002) and Gangs of New York (2002). He founded Appian Way Productions in 2004. He is also an active environmentalist and was designated a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2014.

    CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:

Leonardo DiCaprio's parents met in college and moved to Los Angeles after graduating. His mother is German, and his father is of Italian and German descent.

As a child, DiCaprio wanted to be either a marine biologist or an actor, eventually choosing acting because he liked imitating people and seeing their reactions. He was also motivated to learn acting when another child actor earned $50,000 from a commercial.

DiCaprio has said his first television appearance was on the children's series Romper Room, where he claims he was dismissed for being disruptive, though the show's host has denied this. At age 11, he almost quit acting to pursue breakdancing, having taken second place in a competition in his mother's native Germany.

Early in his career, DiCaprio's agent suggested he change his name to Lenny Williams to appeal to American audiences, but he refused. He remained jobless for a year and a half, even after 100 auditions, and almost quit acting before his father encouraged him to persevere.
