Sinopse

In "A Dead Man's Diary: Written After His Decease," Coulson Kernahan delivers a compelling exploration of mortality and consciousness through a unique narrative framework. The novel is crafted in the form of a diary penned by the deceased, providing readers with an intimate look into the protagonist's mind and his reflections on life, death, and the human experience. This literary work combines elements of gothic fiction with philosophical inquiry, echoing the style of Victorian-era literature while addressing themes of existentialism and the afterlife. Kernahan's use of an ironic premise—writing after death—invites readers to ponder the significance of memory and the essence of identity beyond the grave. Coulson Kernahan, a contemporary of notable Victorian authors, drew from a rich tapestry of societal beliefs about death and the supernatural. His background in journalism and his keen interest in psychology and morality crucially informed his writing, allowing him to deftly weave complex characters and profound themes into his narratives. "A Dead Man's Diary" stands as a testament to Kernahan's ability to reflect the zeitgeist of his era while engaging with timeless questions about existence. This book is highly recommended for readers intrigued by philosophical literature that probes the nature of reality and the consequences of our choices. Kernahan captivates with a profound exploration of the human psyche, making this work a compelling read for anyone interested in the interplay between life and death.

Seventy-five years in the making and packed with entertaining anecdotes, Bernard Who? tells the wonderful story of one of the longest and most celebrated careers in show business.

Bernard Cribbins's life has been an eventful one. In 1943, he left school aged fourteen and joined Oldham Repertory Company where he earned fifteen bob for a seventy-hour week. After being called up for National Service in 1946 he became a paratrooper and spent several months in Palestine being shot at. On returning home, and to the theatre, Bernard was eventually approached by George Martin, then an A&R man for Parlophone Records, who suggested he made a record. Just months away from producing The Beatles, Martin asked Bernard to come to Abbey Road Studios in north London and, after teaching him how to sing into a microphone, they eventually recorded two hit singles - 'The Hole in the Ground' and 'Right Said Fred'. These, together with appearances in now classic films such as Two Way Stretch and The Wrong Arm of the Law (not to mention a certain television programme called Jackanory), catapulted Bernard to stardom and, by the time he started filming The Railway Children in 1970, he was already a national treasure.

Since then, Bernard's CV has been an A-Z of the best entertainment that Britain has to offer, and, thanks to programmes such as the aforementioned Jackanory, The Wombles, and, more recently, Old Jack's Boat, he has become the voice of many millions of childhoods.

But as his public reputation continued to grow, inside the army rumours were circulating.

Gold Walkley Award winning journalist Chris Masters was the first to investigate the rumours of summary executions, bloodings and bullying, and began to examine more closely the man we wanted to hero-worship. The following two criminals will be discussed in this compiled book bundle:
Charles Manson - Charles Milles Manson was an American crook who led the Manson Family, a cult based in California, in the late 1960s. He got involved in the Church of Scientology and had a difficult childhood. Going to jail twice didn’t teach him the lesson he was supposed to learn, and eventually, he was incarcerated a third time. Perhaps through the study of this short-read, you can figure out what makes a criminal and murderer, how it can be prevented, and why we do the things we do. Charles Manson’s life is an example of how things clearly went into the wrong direction. Let’s learn from him so that we don’t repeat the same mistakes.
Lizzie Borden - The infamous double murder that inspired elementary school rhymes is a controversial one: Partially because of the insidious nature and grossness of the crime and on the other hand because some people still believe the defendant is innocent. There are many reasons to believe why Lizzie killed both her parents with an axe, and there are some that could be used to argue that she didn’t. In this guide, you will learn about her background, what may have been the motive for the murders, the most important details of the trial, and much more. You will find out about what happened to Lizzie after the trial and how it has impacted American culture.
