  A Study in Scarlet is a detective mystery novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, introducing his new character of Sherlock Holmes, who later became one of the most famous literary detective characters. He wrote the story in 1886, and it was published the next year. The book's title derives from a speech given by Holmes to his sidekick Doctor Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his "study in scarlet": "There’s the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it." Although Conan Doyle wrote 56 short stories featuring Holmes, A Study in Scarlet is one of only four full-length novels in the original canon. The novel was followed by The Sign of Four, published in 1890. A Study in Scarlet was the first work of fiction to incorporate the magnifying glass as an investigative tool.

  YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES & JOHN WATSON 
  The case of the missing baby. 
  This completely new story I have written involves the 10 year old boys who will be the great detective Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, his assistant, when they grow up, this is their formative years where they perfect their skills before adulthood on what my appear to be inconsequential subjects, but the principle remains the same. 
  This is just one of an extensive series I will be publishing as audio books in the very near future and I do hope you enjoy this first one, and its only $1.25 cents, all subsequent will remain at that price as I would not like price to be a barrier to your enjoyment. 
  I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, a violin Holme's musical instrument of choice and is energetic and the closing music ends the tale on a more restrained mode and only about 1 minute. 
  The story itself runs to about 7 minutes 30 seconds and is of course a short story, it is read in my own voice. 
  The story involves the the disappearance of a baby, Albert just 2 months old, from his pram that Nanny Beatrice was responsible for. Albert was the son of the British Ambassador, Sir Eustace Carmichael, who lived in a magnificent Townhouse in Westminster. The baby was found hidden in a wardrobe upstairs to try and distract Sir Eustace. 
  Needless to say Holmes solves the mystery, discovers baby Albert and is praised by Sir Eustace as being incredibly astute for his age. 
  The stories are designed to be entertaining to children of age around 6 to 10 years old due to the characters involved.

  The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone is one of 12 Sherlock Holmes short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle in The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes. It was first published in the Strand Magazine in October 1921.Watson arrives in 221B Baker Street where the page boy Billy shows him a wax effigy of Holmes placed near a curtained window in the sitting room. The effigy produces a shadow on the curtain that, when viewed from outside, is the unmistakable profile of Sherlock Holmes. Using this visual trick, Holmes aims to give a perfect target to a would-be murderer with a rifle. Holmes names his murderer as Count Negretto Sylvius, the diamond thief he has been following in disguise. He gives the criminal's address to Watson, then sends the doctor out the back for the police. As the Count arrives, Holmes has Billy invite him inside, then takes him by surprise when he attempts an assault on the effigy. Holmes then offers the Count and his helper, boxer Sam Merton, freedom if they give up the jewel, or jail if not.He invites them to discuss the deal while he plays violin in the next room.
