Synopsis

Smart and accomplished, it is customary for psychoanalyst, Dr Faye Monroe, to control the dialogue, ask the questions, tease answers. When she encounters a new client, the erudite Oliver Blake, the nature of engagement tilts, and with it the axis of Faye's constructed world. A cerebral dance commences. Choreographed with hints of a 'danse macabre', it evolves to fencing, bouts of cognitive and psychological combat. What does he actually want? Who is his wife? And where is she?
Against a classical score, we roam and ricochet philosophy, art, Schopenhauer and the childless choice, Greek myths, scatology and sarcophagi, and in India, the delicate and rich art of passementerie, its elaborate braids, embellishments and stitching... As well as the more mundane - college friends, old flames, excruciating family - the contrast of life's messy minutiae.
In its Arabic origins, the word of the pigeon whisperer is deemed untrustworthy, dismissed as hearsay from court, tainted and taboo. As our perspectives shift and swivel, fault lines are traced, addictions viscerally fed, and as cracks and flaws are revealed, we ask, whose whispers, whose words, do we believe?

Only this time, there is no real-life Simon Hill to come to her aid. This is a coming of age story that finds our main character trapped in a courtroom drama that lingers on the verge of a thriller.
Is Kevin Templeton a mild-mannered citizen trying to escape a childhood that is littered with controversy?
Kevin Templeton's life begins as an orphan. Next, during his early childhood, he jumped between foster homes and living on the streets. Then in his teens, a stint in juvenile detention, and multiple run-ins with the law.
Present day, Kevin Templeton is on trial for thirteen counts of insurance fraud and is being hounded by a scrupulous FBI agent for murder. Sharon Alverson believes she is on the trail of a serial killer as Kevin's family members keep popping up deceased with only death certificates signed by Kevin as evidence.
The question: Who is Kevin Templeton?
Con Artist? Scammer? Street Hustler? Schemer? Or! Just maybe he is hiding something even darker, more sinister.
Then again, Kevin Templeton may just be trying to make things right. A good guy just trying to overcome a life of trouble after growing up in foster homes and, in between those foster homes, short stints living on the streets. Perhaps he is a successful businessman and philanthropist. Could it be true? That behind every dark cloud is a silver lining. Do we have to be labeled a product of our childhood?
