Synopsis

Goblin Market is the classic yet for ever sensual long poem which inspired Alice Adventures in The Wonderland. It tells the story of two sisters, Laura and Lizzie, tempted by diabolical goblin merchants selling magical fruits. Like Alice Adventures In The Wonderland, Goblin Market is a surrealist masterpiece about magic, diabolical goblins portrayed as beastly devils, forbidden fruits and guilty pleasure. Throughout the poem set up in a small farm of the British countryside of the nineteen century, a phantasmagorical secret hangs in the air like an allegory for something from the realm of human intimacy, something in conflict with guilty pleasures and forbidden biblical food.
