Beschreibung

Jane Eyre is a novel by English writer Charlotte Bronte. Jane Eyre follows the emotions and experiences of its title character, including her growth to adulthood, and her love for Mr. Rochester, the Byronic master of fictitious Thornfield Hall. In its internalization of the action — the focus is on the gradual unfolding of Jane's moral and spiritual sensibility and all the events are colored by a heightened intensity that was previously the domain of poetry — the novel revolutionized the art of fiction. Charlotte Bronte has been called the 'first historian of the private consciousness' and the literary ancestor of writers like Joyce and Proust. The novel contains elements of social criticism, with a strong sense of morality at its core, but is nonetheless a novel many consider ahead of its time given the individualistic character of Jane and the novel's exploration of classism, sexuality, religion, and proto-feminism.

The first time I met Daniel King, he had a busted nose. He was also a couple of years younger than me, which seemed like a lot back then. I had always thought of him as more of a little brother or friend.
I was so preoccupied with other guys that I never realized he had deeper feelings for me. By the time I saw the error of my ways, it was too late. Daniel had outgrown me and it seemed as if he had even outgrown Galveston.
I had blown my shot with him.
Now it was time for me to decide how far I would go to earn a second chance.

Henry David Thoreau was an American writer and philosopher who lived in the 19th century. He is best known for his work Walden, a reflection on simple living in natural surroundings. Walden is Thoreau's account of his two-year experience living in a small cabin on the shores of Walden Pond near Concord, Massachusetts. In the book, he emphasizes the importance of living a simple, deliberate life and being self-sufficient. Thoreau's observations on the natural world and his critique of American society have made Walden a classic of American literature.

In addition to Walden, Thoreau wrote extensively on social and political issues of his time. One of his most famous works in this regard is Civil Disobedience, which advocates for nonviolent resistance to unjust laws. In the essay, Thoreau argues that it is not only a citizen's right, but their duty to disobey unjust laws and to be willing to accept the consequences of their actions. The essay has had a significant impact on political and social movements around the world, inspiring figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.

Cape Cod is another of Thoreau's works, in which he describes his journey through the coastal region of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The book is a combination of natural history, personal observation, and social commentary. Thoreau's writing in Cape Cod is characterized by his vivid descriptions of the region's wildlife and natural features, as well as his reflections on the history and culture of the people who live there. Like his other works, Cape Cod showcases Thoreau's deep appreciation for nature and his belief in the importance of living a simple, intentional life.

The war was supposed to end with machines.
    Instead, it evolved.
On a devastated Earth where autonomous weapons hunt without mercy, humanity’s last survivors cling to fragile alliances and fading trust. But the enemy is no longer just mechanical—it’s adaptive, deceptive… and indistinguishable.
As paranoia tightens its grip, one question becomes impossible to answer:
    Who is still human?
