Discover the fun of making food from scratch: “You’ll want to eat everything in this book.” —People StyleWatch

Named One of the Year’s Ten Best Cookbooks by Details

How do you make cheese from pantry staples? Or create an oven smoker from scratch in just two minutes? Or make ice cream without a machine? In Home Made, Yvette van Boven shows you how, complete with step-by-step photos and illustrations and a gorgeous photo alongside every recipe.

While her recipes are rooted in a natural, from-scratch cooking philosophy, van Boven is never preachy—she believes that this way of cooking is fun and that the dishes simply taste better! Chapters include Preserving Vegetables, Pre-Dinner Drinks, Chocolate and Cookies, After a Night Out, Ice-Cream-You-Scream, Don’t Forget the Dog!, and more. Each chapter starts with a basic dish that you can make yourself, but usually don’t because you think it’s too complicated (think again!), and includes variations—basic bread becomes focaccia with olives and rosemary, or red cherry and thyme bread. Written with a friendly, irreverent voice, this book will inspire you to make every dish at home.

An inside look into the story of why we all traded in pots for pods!

Reminiscent of God in a Cup and The Devil's Cup, this is an inside look into the modern business of making coffee. But rather than a general history, Coffee for One focuses on the revolution that made single serve the most popular way to consume coffee worldwide, and the competition and conflict that got us here.

This story features A-list names, corporate intrigue, environmental destruction, and much, much more. For the vast majority of the time humans have consumed coffee, the drink has been brewed in pots or other multi-serving tools; that is, until the last two decades, which saw the rise of the single serve coffee machine. Whether it's a Keurig or a Nespresso, today most people get their coffee from little plastic individual serving pods. But why? Coffee for One breaks open this story of innovation, profit, and cultural change.

    The Complete Guide to Foraging...

In a world where the future is uncertain, food and water will turn out to be a scarce commodity. Foraging will become, for some, a way of life, and it will be their only chance of survival when facing the great outdoors. Foraging is a skill that has become forgotten, and even though it was used by our ancestors on a daily basis, today, we mainly hear about it in movies or survival TV shows.
I'm glad to see that this subject is still alive among the preppers and survivalist communities, and it was one of the main reasons that pushed me to write this book. I realize how important it is to keep this knowledge alive as one day it may save the reader's life. The advantage of gathering your own food from fields and woods is that they are fresher and don't have chemicals on them. Although the law governing foraging is very complex, in a survival situation, you will have all the rights to collect wild fruit, fungi, flowers, and foliage for your personal use.
This book aims to help the layperson identify and use edible greens that are found throughout the United States. I've also added at least one photograph for each plant for easier identification, but I've also listed the scientific names so that you can further research the plants you're interested in.
This guide should accompany any person that goes into the backcountry, and it will be a worthy companion in your foraging adventures.
I hope you enjoy the book as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

    Be safe and be wild!
