This book illustrates the powerful effect David Clark´s mother, Jan Clark, had on her son. Her influence began even before David was born. Jan’s pregnancy with David was terrifyingly difficult. Her doctor, due to his grave concerns for Jan’s life, felt compelled to do everything he could to terminate the pregnancy. Amidst these extreme circumstances, Jan made a promise to her unborn child that changed everything!
Follow David Clark as he recounts experiences in which his mother kept this promise and led him to Christ. Notwithstanding that foundation in Christ, however, David years later, found himself feeling isolated and abandoned by God when he became 100% disabled and bedridden due to his military service in Iraq. He went from being an award-winning lawyer, a decorated military officer, and an Elder in his church to becoming completely dependent on others. It was only when David began remembering what his mother taught him about Jesus Christ years earlier that he finally found the peace and rest that comes solely through the Lord.
In this book, you will learn:God hears and answers prayers. We can find peace in Christ, especially in our most heart-wrenching trials.Jesus does not give up on us, nor will He ever abandon us!The truth found in Proverbs 22:6 (“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” KJV).The power parents can have when they share why they believe in God, how their faith has blessed their own lives and provide opportunities for their children to gain that knowledge and experience for themselves.
Clark offers inspiration from his personal experiences bringing out how his mother’s influence led him to Christ even amidst trials and adversity. To find out more, get a copy now!

Awesome! A memoir of a black man in a cultural journey from childhood to a successful career in the fire service. This “journey” is a powerful story of guts peppered with a dose of determination and is anything but an ordinary. Although wrought with both self-inflicted and societally applied barriers his career spanned 30 years. Thus he became the one of only three District chiefs (in the department’s 100+ year history.) He became the first black Chief of Rescue. He became the first black commander of the Hazardous Materials Team. the first black Assistant Fire Chief of ERD (this division was responsible for all firefighting, rescue, dive, and hazardous materials emergencies and constitutes the bulk of personnel employed by the fire department (approximately ¾ of the firefighters and paramedics employed). And all of this on a predominately white fire department. He held the position of Assistant Fire Chief until he retired.

This is small copy of introduction of the book: In the vast tapestry of human history and human thought, few figures stand as tall and enduring as Thomas Hobbes—a man whose ideas continue to shape the contours of political philosophy, science, and history even today. Born on April 5, 1588, in the quaint town of Westport, Wiltshire, England, Hobbes's journey through life was marked by intellectual curiosity, resilience, and a profound engagement with the turbulent currents of his time.
As we embark on this exploration of "Thomas Hobbes: A Political Philosopher, Scientist, and Historian," it is crucial to recognize the multifaceted nature of his contributions. Hobbes was not merely a philosopher; he was a polymath whose intellectual pursuits spanned the realms of political theory, science, and historical reflection.
Chapter by chapter, we will unravel the threads of his life, beginning with the formative years that laid the foundation for his intellectual pursuits. From his early education at the prestigious University of Oxford, where he imbibed the spirit of classical thought, to his exposure to the revolutionary ideas emanating from the scientific community, we will trace the evolution of a mind destined for greatness.
Hobbes's role as the tutor to the influential Cavendish family in the 1610s opened doors to a world of intellectual exchange and travel, shaping his perspectives in ways that would resonate throughout his life. It was during this period that he began to articulate his philosophical ideas, offering early glimpses into the themes that would later find full expression in his seminal work, "Leviathan."

Every family has a story. Like my father Robert Lawrence Lamp Sr. use to say, "we are no better, but different." My sisters and I, our children and grandchildren have all been impacted by the legacy of love our parents gave us. How does a family insure that future generations understand and adopt core values that will make their lives better and different. Robert Lawrence Lamp Jr., a musician and songwriter, chronicles a midwest family living and learning life's lessons, sometimes the hard way. Whether you're a family member, friend or someone wanting to pass on values to your own family, "No Better But Different" will prove an enjoyable musical journey and inside look at what matters most.
‘’A delightful and relatable family story including happy moments and challenges. Rob Lamp’s struggles with infertility, survival from cancer and a successful career navigation after a mid-life crisis are inspirational. Many life lessons for any individual or family.” — Lily Bengfort, Guided Autobiography Instructor
“Rob paints a clear and detailed picture of his life, the forces that shaped it, and the joys and travails that enriched it. While it is a story well-told, with rich language and original music to introduce readers to the many characters, Marsha and I can attest to its accuracy. Like the many tiles that create a strong and dramatic mosaic, Rob’s autobiography enhances the rich texture of our larger Lamp family story.” — Marsha Lamp Cochran and Jan Lamp Gehler, Rob Lamp’s Sisters

    Schoenberg - Why He Matters

An astonishingly lyrical biography that rescues Schoenberg from notoriety, restoring him to his rightful place in the pantheon of twentieth-century composers.

In his time, the Austrian American composer Arnold Schoenberg (1874–1951) was an international icon. His twelve-tone system was considered the future of music itself. Today, however, leading orchestras rarely play his works, and his name is met with apathy, if not antipathy. With this interpretative account, the acclaimed biographer of Toscanini finally restores Schoenberg to his rightful place in the canon, revealing him as one of the twentieth century's most influential composers and teachers. Sachs shows how Schoenberg, a thorny character who composed thorny works, raged against the "Procrustean bed" of tradition. Defying his critics—among them the Nazis, who described his music as "degenerate"—he constantly battled the anti-Semitism that eventually precipitated his flight from Europe to Los Angeles. Yet Schoenberg, synthesizing Wagnerian excess with Brahmsian restraint, created a shock wave that never quite subsided, and, as Sachs powerfully argues, his compositions must be confronted by anyone interested in the past, present, or future of Western music.
