Sinopse

Tabitha Greene knows more about magic than most. She might not be able to cast a workable spell to save her life, but she has read every magical tome and text in existence.

Or so she thought. But then she hears of another book. A rare volume delineating an even rarer type of magic. A type of magic that just might be Tabitha’s real calling.

But when she tracks down the magical bookseller who owns the only known copy, she finds only a dead shop owner and no sign of the book.

Maybe a random robbery gone wrong, but Tabitha doubts it. But either way, if she wants that book, she has to find the murderer first.

With the help of her friends, she intends to do just that. But if the thief who stole the book killed the bookseller in order to hide the truth the text contained, Tabitha and all her friends face a dangerous threat.

"The Yellow Face", one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the third tale from The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. It was first published in Strand Magazine in 1893 with original illustrations by Sidney Paget.
Sherlock Holmes, suffering from boredom due to a want of cases, returns home from a walk with Dr. Watson early in spring to find he has missed a visitor but that the caller has left his pipe behind. From it, Holmes deduces that he was disturbed of mind (because he forgot the pipe); that he valued it highly (because he had repaired, rather than replaced it, when it was broken); that he was muscular, left-handed, had excellent teeth, was careless in his habits and was well-off.

If you want your characters to seduce like an interrogator, dominate like a profiler, and manipulate like an intelligence officer—you’re on the right track.
Cops, Detectives, FBI agents, CIA operatives (if you ever get the rare chance to meet one), and top criminal attorneys—they’re more than just power players in sexy uniforms. They carry something deeper. It’s not just the badge, the suit, or the commanding stance—it’s knowledge. The psychological insight. The ability to read a person’s every tell, to spot desire before it’s spoken, to push just enough before pulling back.
And that is what makes them so damn irresistible.
Now, you can learn their secrets—and use them to write mentally stimulating, pulse-racing erotica.
Listen up, lover—I’ve done the research, and I’m bringing you the real secrets of seduction straight from the playbooks of the FBI, CIA, and top interrogators. Because whether you’re breaking down a suspect or breaking down resistance in the bedroom, the tactics are the same.
    We’re talking:
    Microexpressions that betray hidden desires.
Body language that speaks louder than words.
Interrogation tricks that make people spill their dirtiest secrets.
And, of course, we’ll be whipping out the cuffs—figuratively and literally.
I’m stripping down the secrets of interrogation, body language, and psychological profiling—so you can write seduction like a pro. From the way a gaze lingers to the push-pull of dominance and submission, we’re bringing real law enforcement techniques into the bedroom.
So sit back, relax… and let me teach you how to write tension so thick, it leaves your readers begging for release.Vivia Volupta

It was first published in the January 1924 issues of The Strand Magazine in London and Hearst's International Magazine in New York.
Holmes receives an odd letter that makes reference to vampires. Mr. Robert Ferguson, who comes to 221B Baker Street the next morning, has become convinced that his Peruvian second wife has been sucking their baby son's blood. By his first wife, he has a 15-year-old son named Jack, who suffered an unfortunate accident as a child and now, although he can still walk, he does not have the full use of his legs. After the bloodsucking began, Jack has unaccountably been struck twice by his stepmother, although Mr. Ferguson cannot imagine why. Ever since being found out by her husband, she has locked herself in her room and refused to come out. Only her Peruvian maid, Dolores, is allowed in. She takes Mrs. Ferguson her meals.
