Synopsis

Some borders are meant to be crossed. Others are meant to be respected. In one village, a young man must decide which is which.

When the border near their isolated village suddenly opens, Unal's world expands beyond the raspberry fields and traditional ways he's always known. His heart belongs to Paknur, a brilliant young woman whose dreams of teaching English match his own educational aspirations. But tradition and modernity collide when the wealthy Abisalam returns to the village, building an imposing villa and claiming Paknur through an arranged marriage. As mysterious vehicles and suspicious activities infiltrate their once-peaceful community, the village's very foundation begins to crack. The school director watches helplessly as his influence wanes, while Unal's family struggles to maintain their simple way of life amid accusations of illegal activities. When Paknur vanishes across the border with her new husband, Unal must confront the ultimate question: In a world where everything is changing, what traditions are worth preserving, and which must be left behind?

Red Raspberry is a masterful work of literary fiction that bridges cultural divides and generational gaps. Readers who appreciate nuanced character studies, cultural authenticity, and deeply moving narratives will find themselves enchanted by this powerful exploration of love and tradition.

Please note: this recording contains strong language."1601," wrote Mark Twain, "is a supposititious conversation which takes place in Queen Elizabeth's closet in that year, between the Queen, Ben Jonson, Beaumont, Sir Walter Raleigh, the Duchess of Bilgewater, and one or two others ... If there is a decent word findable in it, it is because I overlooked it." 1601 depicts a highfalutin and earthy discussion between the Queen and her court about farting and a variety of sexual peccadillos, narrated disapprovingly and sanctimoniously by the Queen's Cup-Bearer, an eyewitness at "the Social Fireside."
