Synopsis

Sequel to Order in the Court
Corey Nguyen definitely doesn't need antidepressants. For a girl who went through a tragedy last year, everything seems to be coming together for Corey. She has everything a college sophomore could ask for: a loving partner, a couple of cool new friends, a great relationship with her parents ... and she even managed to keep her grades up while testifying in a murder trial last semester! She should be happy and carefree with that weight off her shoulders!
So why does she always feel like the world is about to end?
In this final installment of Corey's story, she must face up to the fact that stories don't end when you get the guy (or girl) and promise to live happily ever after. After a summer living in a bubble with her new beau, Corey discovers that the world has kept turning for everyone else. The people around her are moving forward without her and if she doesn't catch up quickly, she's going to risk losing everything -- her friends, her relationship, or even somebody's life.
NOTE: This book mentions suicide, gun violence, and mental health crises.

A raw, poetic, coming-of-age “masterwork” (The New York Times)
Punch Me Up to the Gods introduces a powerful new talent in Brian Broome, whose early years growing up in Ohio as a dark-skinned Black boy harboring crushes on other boys propel forward this gorgeous, aching, and unforgettable debut. Brian’s recounting of his experiences—in all their cringe-worthy, hilarious, and heartbreaking glory—reveal a perpetual outsider awkwardly squirming to find his way in. Indiscriminate sex and escalating drug use help to soothe his hurt, young psyche, usually to uproarious and devastating effect. A no-nonsense mother and broken father play crucial roles in our misfit’s origin story. But it is Brian’s voice in the retelling that shows the true depth of vulnerability for young Black boys that is often quietly near to bursting at the seams.
Cleverly framed around Gwendolyn Brooks’s poem “We Real Cool,” the iconic and loving ode to Black boyhood, Punch Me Up to the Gods is at once playful, poignant, and wholly original. Broome’s writing brims with swagger and sensitivity, bringing an exquisite and fresh voice to ongoing cultural conversations about Blackness in America.

The city girl who just inherited an apple orchard, the farmhand who thought it should go to her & their fight to fix it up.

    BELLS:

I didn't even know I had an aunt who lived upstate. So when she leaves her apple orchard to me, I assume it's a good way to get my law school loans paid off. As I set to sell the place, the last thing I anticipated was a stubborn farmhand who thought she knew everything about me.

    TILLY:

It's bad enough the orchard wasn't left to me, but it was left to a city girl with no experience. She walks onto the orchard in four inch heels and the intention to sell. It burns me inside, but I know how much this place meant to her aunt. So instead of letting her sell, I convince her to let me fix it up and sell it to me at the end of the season.

She's the last person I'd ever pick to spend time with, until the leaves start to change and I do too.

A mage without magic. A hellhound without a home.

Ash is technically a fire mage, but he can't do much. Turning his bedroom lights on and off without having to get out of bed isn't exactly awe inspiring, not when anyone with the right gadget could clap and do the same thing.

Worse, sometimes he senses something bigger and brighter lurking under his skin, and it feels so familiar he knows it has to be his magic, but then he burps or sneezes, and the feeling passes. So it's probably just allergies . . . or gas.

Yeah . . . Not exactly brimming with magical oomph. Not anymore. It sucks.

But things start to change when he finds Dillon, a hellhound, being chased through the woods by an angry wolf pack. He is instantly smitten and it's like something inside him unlocks. What's even crazier is Dillon seems to think Ash still has magic . . . and now Ash isn't sure what to believe.

What he does know is he'll do what needs to be done to protect his friends and the little supernatural town of Willow Lake from the dirtbag wolves in the hills. Even with his magic on the fritz he can help, right? And, with Dillon at his side, what could possibly go wrong?

    Contains mature themes.

At thirty, Lindsay Ramone loves herself. How couldn't she? She's smart, beautiful, and enjoys acting and creating scenes. She has a good life. A positive life. And fortunately, she's overseen by two very close and special people.
Lindsay is monetarily cared for by her wealthy uncle, a best-selling novelist who finds his niece similar to himself. Both suffer from mental illness, particularly depression. Lindsay's uncle sends her numerous healthy checks, creating an easy lifestyle for her.
Lindsay's second caregiver is her best friend, Jilly Joey Finn, a professional online product surveyor. They've known each other since the ninth grade. Jilly has always been an emotional rock and a strong support for Lindsay.
When Lindsay has the most electrically emotional and fascinating day in late August with Jilly, a dark and depressing day sneaks up on her. As predicted, Lindsay falls into a temperamental, dark depression. Mental illness begins to eat her alive, again.
Lindsay has a few mechanisms of resistance to help her mental illness: therapy tools, swimming naked with the sea turtles, and Jilly's affections. But maybe Jilly has been crossing the line with her friendly holding ... at least lately she has. Now Lindsay wants to find out exactly why.

Sequel to Don't Call Me Jonathan
It's Christmas Eve, six months after Jon and Nathan uncovered the truth about their two families. High time to invite them all over for a Christmas dinner party at their house. But, as many people know, in a house full of loved ones, any number of things could go wrong. Especially when certain secrets are simmering in the background.
For starters, Nathan's sister Jennifer has been acting off lately -- enough to raise concerns about a possible relapse. And then there's Nathan's newly discovered brother Taylor, suspiciously tight-lipped about his new boyfriend.
When the two families fail to connect on Christmas Eve, with awkward silences and sideways glances, there's no telling what might happen once secrets start to surface left and right. It might take more than Jon's cooking to save their evening. Can the opposites-attract magic of Jon and Nathan bring their families together? Or will everyone remember this Christmas for the wrong reasons?
