Women now have professional opportunities beyond what previous generations ever imagined. But as our roles in public life have grown, the church's vision for women's work and calling has not grown with us, leaving us feeling isolated and under-resourced. Christian women face multiple tensions between home and work, navigating complex gender dynamics in the workplace and social pressure to hold together picture-perfect lives.

Joanna Meyer addresses a critical gap in Christian women's discipleship by speaking to the roles we play in public and professional life. Acknowledging the brokenness of workplaces and industries, she provides a theological framework for women's work and influence and offers resources for the challenges of working life. This book will help you: ignite your vocational imagination, with a biblical framework for work and calling; build strength from within, with emotional and spiritual health to support your work; navigate common workplace challenges, with practical tools to help your influence grow; and pursue purposeful relationships, collaborating and building strong relationships with others.

Do you ever feel a disconnect as a mother—like you’re doing all the "mom things” you’re supposed to do as you stoop to serve your kids with your hands, but your heart isn’t in it? While being a mom is one of the most rewarding jobs, it is also one of the hardest. We grow weary as we pour ourselves out for our children, wondering where we’ll get the strength to serve another day. If we’re honest, we can become exhausted by the constant call to tend to our family. We can even sometimes resent the posture of humility and servanthood it requires. We can easily go about humble work without a humble heart. Kristen Wetherell has been there, and instead of offering you a parenting plan, a pep talk, or a list of things to do, her words in Humble Moms offers you exactly what she needs in moments of exhaustion: life-giving and biblical meditations on Jesus, who humbly serves you not only in hand, but in heart. As you journey along with Kristen through the entire life and work of Christ, you’ll find that your life and work as a mom is sustained in the process. Momma, it is truly possible to have hands and hearts that look like Jesus. Open Humble Moms and take in all that Christ is for you—and you’ll find that his heart and posture is changing yours!

In the swirl of Philadelphia at the end of Prohibition, Leyb meets Charles. They are at a former speakeasy called Cricket's, a bar that welcomes, as Charles says in his secondhand Yiddish, feygeles. Leyb is startled; fourteen years in amerike has taught him that his native tongue is not known beyond his people. And yet here is suave Charles, a Black man from the Seventh Ward, a fellow traveler of Red Emma's, speaking Jewish to a young man he will come to call Lion.

Lion is haunted by memories of life before, in Zatelsk, where everyone in his village, everyone except the ten non-Jews, a young poet named Gittl, and Leyb himself, was taken to the forest and killed.

And then, miraculously, Gittl is in Philadelphia, too, thanks to a poem she wrote and the intervention of a shadowy character known only as the Baroness of Philadelphia. And surrounding Gittl are malokhim, the spirits of her siblings.

Moriel Rothman-Zecher's Before All the World lays bare the impossibility of escaping trauma, the necessity of believing in a better way ahead, and the power that comes from our responsibility to the future. It asks the most essential question: What do you intend to do before all the world?
