One summer, when both his parents are away for work, Oskar is sent to the countryside to live with his grandma. A dreary prospect turns into disaster when Oskar realises he left his mobile phone back at home. What will he do all summer now?
Lonely and bored, Oskar crafts a phone out of a block of wood he finds in the shed and uses it to pretend to call things. To his surprise, the things reply! He speaks to a tough-talking iron, a poetising bin, a bloodthirsty wardrobe, a red balloon that gets tangled in the crown of a birch tree, and many more. Oskar finds himself in high demand, helping the things solve their problems and achieve their dreams.
Oskar and the Things is a charming book about the power of the imagination and friendship, by Estonia's leading children's writer, Andrus Kivirähk. YOUNG BLACKBEARD THE PIRATE
    PORT OF BRISTOL 1690
Book 4 of 6 – The mutiny of the missing shortbread
Here is the summary description of this book:
When Anne Bonny's prized shortbread vanishes from The Salty Pickle, young Edward Teach (future Blackbeard) declares it an act of mutiny. The crew searches their Bristol docked ship for crumbs, suspecting rival pirates—until Israel spots seagulls feasting in nearby bushes. The audacious birds, led by a scream-mimicking alpha gull, had staged an elaborate heist: one distracted Anne with her own signature shriek while others carried off the treats. A chaotic harbor chase ensues, with Benjamin's slingshot recovering scraps of the stolen shortbread. Though outsmarted, Edward admires the gulls' piratical cunning and proposes an alliance—Anne will bake extra batches in exchange for avian lookouts. The tale blends humor with authentic 1690s Bristol harbor life, showing Edward's early leadership and flair for turning foes into assets—a skill that would later define history's most notorious pirate.
This is the fourth of six audiobooks in the series and I do hope you enjoy this instalment, and it's only $3.
the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, accordion, fiddle, harmonica and bango in a classical sea shanty jig. The closing music ends the tale on a similar jig and at about 2 minutes with the same musical instruments but more upbeat looking forward to the next episode.
The story itself runs to about 16 minutes is is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!
