Beschreibung

An Introduction to the Psalms from Biblical Scholars Bruce K. Waltke and Fred G. Zaspel
Written over the course of 1,000 years, the book of Psalms is a collection of religious poetry voicing a wide variety of human emotions expressed in different genres—imprecatory psalms, psalms of praise, and more. It has become one of the most popular books of the Bible, but most readers have only a surface level understanding of the Psalms and how it fits into the larger historical and scriptural context.
In How to Read and Understand the Psalms, Bruke K. Waltke and Fred G. Zaspel give readers tools to learn how to properly interpret and internalize the Psalms. Developed primarily from decades of lectures by Waltke, they explain the various types of psalms, Hebrew poetry, rhetorical techniques, and more. Armed with these tools, believers will discover how the 150 psalms can further fuel their knowledge and love of God.

- Developed Primarily from Lectures by Bruce K. Waltke: A renowned Old Testament scholar, Waltke taught on the Psalms for decades at Dallas Seminary, Regent College, Westminster Theological Seminary, Reformed Theological Seminary, and Knox Theological Seminary
- Ideal for Pastors, Teachers, and Students: Readers will be equipped to read, teach, and preach the Psalms with greater confidence
- In-Depth: Waltke and Zaspel examine specific psalms verse-by-verse and explain the various ways the psalmists themselves convey their message and how their psalms should be read in light of the biblical canon

When Wes Grayson spots a mysterious woman photographing his six-year-old daughter, his protective instincts ignite. Amy, his adoptive daughter, is the center of his world and any threat to Amy is a threat to Wes.
But what Wes doesn't know is that the woman behind the camera, Laney Fields, is Amy's birth mother. Laney has no desire to threaten anyone, just a longing to see the child she'd brought into the world six years ago and then been forced to release for adoption. Laney yearns to be a part of her daughter's life again and, after the passing of Amy's adoptive mother, wonders if she's been given a second chance.

How Christians Can Rediscover the Beauty and Glory of the Church
Dear. Precious. Lovely. The Bible describes the church in extraordinary ways, even using beautiful poetry and metaphors. How does this compare to how Christians today describe the church? Unfortunately, many believers focus more on its mission, structure, or specific programs than on its inherent beauty. It's time to spark a renewed affection for the church.
In The Loveliest Place, Dustin Benge urges Christians to see the holy assembly of God's redeemed people in all its eternal beauty. He explains what makes the church lovely, including the Trinitarian relationship, worship, service, and gospel proclamation. For those who have never learned to view the church as God sees it, or have become disillusioned by its flaws, this book is a reminder that the corporate gathering of believers is a reflection of God's indescribable beauty.
This is the third book in the Union series, which invites readers to experience deeper enjoyment of God through four interconnected values: delighting in God, growing in Christ, serving the church, and blessing the world.

    - Part of the Union Series: Inviting readers to experience deeper enjoyment of God; other volumes include Rejoice and Tremble and Deeper
    - Concise Version Also Available: The Loveliest Place is the full version of Why Should We Love the Local Church?
    - Looks Beyond Methodology: Focuses on the beauty, not just the biblical function, of the church

The Law of Moses - Or The Law Of...

The holy scriptures are not always easy to read and understand. The Old Testament has many laws that are impossible for us to keep. Consider some of the following laws. Should we apply capital punishment for incorrigible children? (Exodus 21:18-21), for those caught in adultery? And if you will be honest with yourself, this will include a vast number of people today (Leviticus 20:10). What about the false teachers among us (Deuteronomy 13:1-11), should we be stoning them to death?
These laws were established for the Jewish nation. They were not then to be passed onto the Church. The Church was established just over 50 days after Jesus died on the cross. At his death the new covenant came into effect and this is the law Christians are meant to keep today.
Jesus has been described as being of greater worth than Moses, Moses himself tells us there would come another prophet, and we must listen to him. And that prophet was Jesus Christ. When Jesus was baptised in the river by John. God the Father's voice was heard, and he also said "listen to him".
We cannot keep both laws, so we must keep either one or the other. The new laws of Jesus Christ came into effect the moment Jesus died on the cross, and these are the laws all people must keep. Jews and Christians alike. Keeping these laws is the only way to be seen as righteous in the eyes of God.
