    Title: The Hound
    Author: H. P. Lovecraft
    Narrator: Jonathan Dunne
    Original Publication: 1924
    Public Domain: Yes
Series Placement: Timeless Terrors No. 70
    Description:
The Hound is one of H. P. Lovecraft’s most visceral and nightmarish tales — a relentless descent into obsession, blasphemy, and cosmic dread. Two decadent antiquarians, bored with the world of the living, seek forbidden thrills among the dead, desecrating ancient graves in their pursuit of aesthetic and occult sensation. But when they steal a mysterious amulet from a centuries-old tomb, they awaken something far older and more terrible than death itself.
What begins as intellectual arrogance spirals into paranoia and terror as an unseen pursuer stalks them across continents, heralded by baying winds, clawed footprints, and the growing certainty that some ancient guardian has been unleashed. Lovecraft’s prose is dense, feverish, and unrelenting — a pure expression of his philosophy that humanity is insignificant before the vast, indifferent horrors of the universe.
Narrated by Amazon-bestselling horror author Jonathan Dunne, this performance captures the story’s mounting hysteria, grotesque imagery, and suffocating sense of cosmic doom. While the original text is in the public domain, this narration and production are copyright © 2025 Jonathan Dunne.
Part of Timeless Terrors, a series devoted to reviving the most enduring and disturbing works of classic horror, The Hound is a grim warning against forbidden knowledge — and a reminder that some graves are guarded for a reason. 🐺

WING MAN: Like most children I dreamed that I could fly and that I could take giant bounding leaps across the landscape. On summer mornings I would try this out on my way to school, hoping to find myself far above the tarmacked lane, looking down on the fields and my friends below.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
The Unnamable represents a conversation between Randolph Carter and Joel Manton (alter-ego of Maurice W. Moe) in an old cemetery in Arkham (modeled after the Charter Street Burying Ground in Salem). Manton expresses disapproval of Carter's creation of horror stories. He considers them immature and, furthermore, claims that there is no such thing as "Unnamable". However, he will soon realize his mistake.
It is difficult to call The Unnamed a story. It is more like a fictionalized literary essay, a precursor to a future series of essays titled In Defence of Dagon, in which Lovecraft will present a theory of the supernatural story and attempt to prove that horror literature should not be dismissed as exclusively immature, targeted at the masses.
