From beloved actor and cultural icon David Duchovny comes a surreal and hilarious audio-book.Ted Fullilove, aka Mr. Peanut, is not like other Ivy League grads. He shares an apartment with Goldberg, his beloved battery-operated fish, sleeps on a bed littered with yellow legal pads penned with what he hopes will be the next great American novel, and spends the waning malaise-filled days of the Carter administration at Yankee Stadium, waxing poetic while slinging peanuts to pay the rent.
When Ted hears the news that his estranged father, Marty, is dying of lung cancer, he immediately moves back into his childhood home, where a whirlwind of revelations ensues. The browbeating absentee father of his youth is living to make up for lost time, but his health dips drastically whenever his beloved Red Sox lose. And so, with help from a crew of neighborhood old-timers and the lovely Mariana—Marty's Nuyorican grief counselor—Ted orchestrates the illusion of a Sox winning streak, enabling Marty and the Red Sox to reverse the Curse of the Bambino and cruise their way to World Series victory. Well, sort of.
David Duchovny's richly drawn Bucky F*cking Dent is a story of the bond between fathers and sons, Yankee fans and the Fenway faithful, and grapples with the urgent need to find our story in an age of irony and artifice. Culminating in that fateful moment in October of '78 when the meek Bucky Dent hit his way into baseball history with the unlikeliest of home runs, this tragicomic audio-book demonstrates that life truly belongs to the losers—that the long shots are the ones worth betting on.
Bucky F*cking Dent is a singular tale that brims with the hilarity, poignancy, and profound solitude of modern life.A Macmillan Audio production.

“This quirky Swedish love story is the antidote to all of those Hallmark movies you’ve been bingeing.” — Elle Canada
For readers of quirky Scandinavian fiction comes this charming and witty debut novel by Emmy Abrahamson—perfect for fans of Jonas Jonasson.
Love stinks. Or maybe it just needs a shower . . .
Vienna: famous for Mozart, waltzes, and pastry; less famous for Julia, a Swedish transplant who spends her days teaching English to unemployed Austrians and her evenings watching Netflix with her cat or club hopping with a frenemy. An aspiring novelist, Julia’s full of ideas for future bestsellers: A writer moves his family to a deserted hotel in the dead of winter and spirals into madness! A homely governess loves a brooding man whose crazy wife is locked up in the attic! Fine, so they’ve been done. Doesn’t mean Julia won’t find something original.
Then something original finds Julia—sits down next to her on a bench, as a matter of fact. Ben is handsome (under all that beard) and adventurous (leaps from small bridges in a single bound). He’s sexy as hell and planning to shuffle off to Berlin before things can get too serious. Oh, and Ben lives in a public park.
Thus begins a truth stranger than any fiction Julia might have imagined: a whirlwind relationship with a guy who shares her warped sense of humor and shakes up the just-okay existence she’s been too lazy to change. Ben challenges her to break out; she challenges him to settle down. As weeks turn to months, Julia keeps telling herself that this is a chapter in her life, not the whole book. If she writes the ending, she can’t get hurt.
But what if the ending isn’t hers to write?

Screenwriter Harry Towns continues his misadventures in this novel from a New York Times–bestselling author and “witty chronicler of urban angst” (San Francisco Chronicle).   Set in late-1980s New York, this novel continues the story of Harry Towns—who is well into his fifties and is feeling increasingly out of place in the world, but doesn’t let that stop him from pursuing success as a playwright (or at least making some quick cash by selling a TV series). He has a second wife and a young daughter, but he doesn’t let that stop him from bedding the occasional hooker (and getting mugged along the way). It isn’t easy getting older, but Harry plugs along. The only thing that truly paralyzes him is trying to decide whether to get tickets to Cats . . .   “A triumph . . . Hilarious.” —The Globe and Mail (Toronto)   “Harry Towns, like his creator, shows in the end . . . amazing resilience, inventiveness, hope and good humor.” —The Washington Post

Steps to a Better Life and...

Everyone has a legitimate desire to have a better life. Having a better life could mean different things to different people. What a man considers to be a better life may be different from what a woman considers to be a better. Also, what a young person considers a better life would be different from what an older person considers a better life. For a young person in their 20s, better life could mean having many materials things (car, house, clothes, money, etc.) which they believe would make them happy.

For older people, a 'better life" for them would be living their dream with lots of passion, lots of laughter and love, which of course brings happiness to them. Not a material thing in sight! Even though our definition of what a better life is can change over the years, the steps we take to how we can attain that "better life" doesn't really change. As Elbert Hubbard said, a sculptor creates the beautiful statue through a process of chipping away the parts of the marble that are not needed. This process of elimination is what we need to take on board as we try to eliminate those things that we do which prevent us from attaining a "better life for ourselves".

No matter your age or gender, and whatever "better life" means to you, you can attain that legitimate desire by chipping away those parts of your life that are not needed. Also, if you do want to create change in your life, get clear on the definition of what a better life is for YOU. This will help you identify the key things that you need to STOP DOING so that you can have a better life.
