Synopsis

When celebrated illusionist Victor Armand takes the stage for his grand finale, the crowd gasps as he steps into a shimmering cabinet and disappears. But when the curtain falls, Victor is gone for real—leaving behind nothing but a trail of smoke and a theater full of stunned witnesses. 
Detective Mara Ellison, known for her sharp intuition and sharper tongue, is called in to untangle the mystery. What begins as a case of stage trickery gone wrong quickly spirals into something darker: secret debts, rival magicians with grudges, and a family history Victor spent his life trying to bury. 
As Mara delves deeper into the labyrinth of illusions and lies, she discovers that the key to Victor’s disappearance lies not in the spotlight, but in the shadows behind it. And the closer she gets to the truth, the more she realizes—every trick has a price, and someone is willing to kill to keep the greatest illusion intact.
