  Thank you for your interest in the Business Russian audiocourse by Audioacademyeu. The course is designed for beginners to slightly advanced learners and focuses on vocabulary you can use at work and in business contacts with Russian-speaking business partners.The course is based on contextual learning, which means that you will not only learn words, but also sentences in which you can use the words you have learned. In this course you will find a total of 1,000 words and practice sentences.The individual lessons are divided into the topics Daily Agenda, Activities, Finance, Communication, Marketing+Presentation, Production+Characteristics and Human Resources. They contain words and example sentences to help you communicate with business partners abroad. At the same time, you can use this course to refresh your Russian from a beginner to pre-intermediate level.What is the best way to work with the course? Choose the lesson you want to start with. Each lesson contains six tracks. First,  familiarize yourself with the actual vocabulary (tracks 1 and 2). In order to get a better grip over the new expressions  in Russian, in track one you hear the  Russian word twice.Next, you have a  word followed by a contextual sentence, again in both translation options (tracks 3 and 4).  Then you move on to complete sentences (tracks 5 and 6). ). Again, in track 5, you will hear the sentence in Russian twice. Once you have mastered translating sentences from English into Russian (lesson 6) in the time gap before the English translation, you have won. The words alone will help you in understanding the meaning, but using the mastered complete sentences will help you communicate much better.There is a script to this course available for free download at www.audioacademyeu.eu which will make your activities with the course much more effective. In its  introduction, you will find a learning guide along with helpful tips on how to make the lessons more effective and a lesson plan for you to record your learning progress. The script is divided thematically into three parts.  In the first part you will find a written version of the audio tracks you will listen to.  In the second part you will find the writing tests. For each lesson there is one test of vocabulary and one test of sentences. The key to both tests is available right after the tests too In the third part of the script you will find double-sided flashcards that you can cut out with scissors and practice even when you can't or don't want to listen. The course is narrated by native speakers - Jeff Short in English and Anna Makarenko and Alexander Podolkhov in Russian. No AI generated voices have been used.

  It is widely accepted that political discourse in recent years has become more openly racist and more accepting of wildly implausible conspiracy theories. Dogwhistles and Figleaves explores ways in which such changes—both of which defied previously settled norms of political speech—have been brought about. Jennifer Saul shows that two linguistic devices, dogwhistles and figleaves, have played a crucial role. Some dogwhistles (such as "88", used by Nazis online to mean "Heil Hitler") serve to disguise messages that would otherwise be rejected as unacceptable, allowing them to be transmitted surreptitiously. Other dogwhistles (like the 1988 "Willie Horton" ad) work by influencing people in ways that they are not aware of, and which they would likely reject were they aware. Figleaves (such as "just asking questions") take messages that could easily be recognized as unacceptable, and provide just enough cover that people become more willing to accept them. Saul argues that these devices are important for the spread of racist discourse. She also shows how they contribute to the transmission of norm-violating discourse more generally, focusing on the case of wildly implausible conspiracist speech. This book is the first full-length exploration of dogwhistles and figleaves. It offers an illuminating and disturbing view of the workings of contemporary political discourse.
