  The language of Poetry is an art that most of us attempt at some point in our lives.  Although its commonplace exposure has been somewhat marginalised in today’s often fast-paced lives we all recognise good verse that can empathise with our thoughts or open us up to experience new things in new ways, to better understand and to enjoy the many strands of our lives. 
  But finding a starting point can be overwhelming, even off-putting, so in this series we offer up our Top 10 classic poets, who brim with talent and verse, on a range of subjects and themes that we can all enjoy. 
  In this volume we gather together those 17th Century poets and their poems which took poetry in a different but very revealing direction, with their artistry and verse.

Here the gospel is the "fresh words / that speak of / things impossible."

  In her debut collection, Ground Provisions, Shauna M. Morgan takes us on a sensory journey across landscapes of the body and the earth. Immersing readers in lush language and imagery, the collection traverses the natural world from the Caribbean to North America and provokes questions about identity in the making of diasporas and the formation of multi-ethnic realities. What remains and what is created anew? Who emerges at the fissures of culture? What is learned from human relationships with the land? How do we make provisions between generations?

  KOFI'S QUEST. KWAME'S ARROW 
  "Run to Freedom" is the first of a trilogy set on an 18th century Jamaican plantation. 13-year-old Kofi is an enslaved African who works in the pickney gang on McDermott Plantation. His father, Kwame, secretly trains him in tribal knowledge and hunting skills and embeds the urge to escape the plantation in Kofi's psyche. Kwame has been covertly meeting the Maroons, planning to escape, join the mountain warriors and provide intelligence to facilitate a successful raid for arms. ammunition and food. Kwame's chief intent is to rescue his family in the chaos of the attack and take them to live in the mountains with the freedom fighters. 
  But something goes horribly wrong: Kwame is captured and killed. Vowing to succeed where his father failed, young Kofi makes an ill-timed attempt to run away: he is captured and punished severely. Though scarred for life as a result of his failed escape attempt, Kofi is undaunted and determined to try again. 
  Will he succeed where his father failed?

  Tam O'Shanter A Tale - This...

  Many nations have produced outstanding poets who they would gladly have represent their Culture.  But can any Nation say they have an equivalent of Robbie Burns?  Rabbie. The Ploughman Poet.  The Bard (Of Scotland).  This one poet is indelibly linked and intertwined with the culture and people of Scotland.  His life, loves, politics, verse and songs speak as them and for them.  
  From humble roots, the eldest son of seven born in 1759 to parents, both from tenant farming stock, the family endured both hardship and poverty.   Burns endured the test and began to write first at 15 and to publish his first volume some two years later.    
  He wrote in both true Scottish, dialect and English as well as turning his hand to song.  Politically he was an inspiration to both liberalism and socialism as well as a Scottish parliament.  His unique ability enabled him to appeal to all and quite rightly to be viewed as the National poet.    
  As well as creating his own great works he was also an avid collector of Scottish Folk Songs preserving for posterity the works of others.  
  However his own life was short dying at the young age of only 37.   What further greatness would have lain before him is impossible to say.  But, poetically, on the day of his death his son, Maxwell was born.    
  His fame today is worldwide and celebrated in January each year with the Traditional Burns night.  Each New Years Eve friends and families the world over link arms to ‘Auld Lang Syne’, giving immortality to his words and aims.  
  As former Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan says:  Burn’s poems dignify and illuminate the struggle faced by the vast majority of the world’s population today.
