Synopsis

Having read with breathless excitement the tales of the legendary Dukes of Burgundy – Philip the Bold, Charles the Rash and John the Fearless – the beautiful Lady Yursa Home is thrilled when her grandmother takes her to Castle Montvéal, where the Head of their Family, the illustrious Duc César rules almost as if he was a King.

The untouched and innocent Yursa has a good idea of the visit’s real purpose as she has overheard a supposedly secret conversation in the drawing room between her grandmother and her father.

Her grandmother aims to marry her off to the Duc , thereby saving him from the clutches of the sinister yet most alluring beauty Zelée de Salône, who is staying for far too long at his magnificent Château..

Blissfully unaware that she has made a mortal enemy, Yursa is kidnapped by Zelée’s gang of followers and to her horror finds that she is a witch and a Satanist.

Tied to a stake, Yursa is to be sacrificed to Satan by burning at the stake as a perverted revenge for Joan of Arc at the hands of English soldiers in 1431.

By an unusual form of telepathy the Duc has a very strong feeling that she is in danger and acts accordingly.

Can the strange magic that seems to connect her so instinctively to the smoulderingly handsome Duc be love?

And has it the power to conquer evil and save her life and his from the evil wiles and schemes of Zelé de Salône?

"Northanger Abbey" by Jane Austen is a novel written in the early 19th century. The story introduces Catherine Morland, a young woman whose unremarkable upbringing and lack of traditional beauty set her apart from the typical heroines found in romantic fiction. Despite this, Catherine yearns for adventure and is captivated by the romantic ideals portrayed in the novels she reads. This longing foreshadows her journey into society, particularly during her trip to Bath.
The opening of the novel establishes the contrasting elements of Catherine's mundane life and her fantastical aspirations. From an early age, it is evident that she prefers physical activities over the more traditional feminine pastimes, a trait that continues into her teenage years as she develops a fascination with the very novels that influence her romantic ideas. Her first major adventure starts when she is invited to Bath, where she hopes to discover excitement, friendship, and possibly romance, especially with Mr. Tilney, a character who piques her interest.
The narrative offers a witty exploration of societal norms, personal growth, and the disconnect between reality and expectations. This makes "Northanger Abbey" an engaging read for those who appreciate character-driven stories that satirize romantic tropes.

Micah Hart had learned a few things the first few months of officially dating Damon Romano, a vicious mafioso/ridiculously rich billionaire, infamous throughout New York City for his cut-throat "business" tactics:

    1. Damon was soft for nothing and no one . . . except Micah (and maybe his sisters). 2. His domineering tendencies definitely extended to the bedroom. 3. Damon didn't trust him—not completely.

That last one shouldn't have hurt as much as it did. After all, there were bound to be certain obstacles to overcome in a relationship when one person was a mafia don and the other was a police-detective-turned-PI.

Damon keeps Micah far away from anything related to his "work," and Micah allows it . . . at least until a stripper named Ginger waltzes into his struggling detective agency, claiming that her boyfriend—also a stripper—is trying to kill her. Ginger just so happens to work at Lust, the most infamous of a chain of clubs Damon has specifically warned Micah away from.

Taking the job would require him to go undercover at Lust, and he should say no. But Damon is out of town for the weekend. What's the worst that could happen?

    (Psst. Spankings.)

    Contains mature themes.
