Synopsis

The handsome Earl of Ardwick is smarting from the pain of discovering that his fiancée, the spectacularly beautiful but social-climbing Heloise Brook, is forsaking him for a Duke when he is halted on the road by a nasty carriage accident. There he finds beautiful young Lupita Lang and her six-year-old brother, Jerry, who are running away from home. After the recent death of their father, Jerry has now become the Earl of Langwood.Realising that he used to know their father well, he then takes them to the safety of his Grosvenor Square house where suddenly he sees Lupita in a new light. With her fair hair and blue eyes she is the most beautiful girl he had ever seen and, as she tells him that their wicked Cousin Rufus is bent on murdering young Jerry in order to inherit his title, a cunning idea then comes to the Earl, a way to protect the young siblings from their grasping cousin and also to wreak revenge on the equally title-hungry Heloise. After Lupita next appears on his arm dressed up as Cleopatra at the famed Devonshire House Fancy Dress Ball, to Heloise’s fury the Earl finds Lupita’s innocent allure increasingly impossible to resist and, although she does not know it, her heart is already his. But surely their love is lost before it has any chance with Cousin Rufus still determined to end his young cousins’ lives and seize the title and estate that he so desperately covets.

What if horror didn’t crawl, speak, or breathe - but fell from the sky? The Colour Out of Space is not just a story; it’s a chilling descent into a nightmare beyond human understanding. When a strange meteorite crashes onto a quiet New England farm, it leaves behind something impossible to describe - an unnatural presence that seeps into the land, the animals, and the people who live there. Crops rot, livestock change, and the air itself feels wrong as an invisible force spreads with silent, relentless intent. As you listen, dread builds slowly, twisting curiosity into fear while the familiar world decays into something alien and terrifying. This audiobook draws you deep into classic cosmic horror, where science fails and humanity stands powerless before the unknown. By the final moments, you won’t just understand the horror - you’ll feel it lingering, glowing faintly in the darkness long after the story ends. Press play, and discover a terror that cannot be named… only endured.

A doctor investigates a colleague in mourning in this addictive mystery by the author of Deadly Diagnosis. When she pays a condolence call to medical secretary Sara Wiseman, Dr. Cathy Moreland is a bit taken aback to find Sara more upset about the recent suspicious death of her colleague at the hospital than the loss of her own mother. But Cathy is far more surprised when Sara’s husband later confides that he suspects Sara was having an affair with the dead doctor—and that he fears it was the least of her transgressions. Could she have had something to do with not only his demise but with her own mother’s? When the postmortem reveals the doctor had a chemical in his system that was stored in the pathology lab—and it becomes apparent that a large amount of the toxin has gone missing—Cathy agrees to assist her friend and fellow doctor Suzalinna in the investigation. She can only hope she doesn’t wind up in the mortuary herself . . .Praise for the Dr. Cathy Moreland Mysteries “Fabulous . . . well plotted story and great characters.” —Peter Boon, author of Who Killed Miss Finch?

Marian Ffarmer is a world-renowned poet and a legend in the making—but only now, at seventy-five years old, is she beginning to believe in the security of her successes. Unfortunately, a poet's accomplishments don't necessarily translate to capital, and as her adult son struggles to buy his first home, her confidence in her choices begins to fray. Marian's pristine life of mind—for which she's sacrificed nearly all personal relationships, from romance to friendship to motherhood—has come at a cost.

Then comes a cryptic invitation from the Tech Company. Come to California, the invitation beckons, and write with a machine. The Company's lucrative offer—for Marian to coauthor a poem in a 'historic partnership' with their cutting-edge poetry bot, named Charlotte—chafes at everything she believes about artmaking as an individual pursuit . . . yet, it's a second chance she can't resist. And so to California she goes, a sell-out and a skeptic, for an encounter that will unsettle her life, her work, and even her understanding of kinship.

Both a love letter to and interrogation of the nature of language, art, labor, capital, family, and community, Do You Remember Being Born? is Scotiabank Giller Prize winner Sean Michaels's empathetic response to some of the most disquieting questions of our time.
