Synopsis

This book explores the global health policies and vaccination programs surrounding human metapneumovirus (hMPV).  It delves into predictive modeling for emerging respiratory viruses, integrating environmental and socioeconomic factors. The book examines infection control in community settings, considering architectural design and social networks. It also investigates hMPV's viral pathogenesis, host immunity, and the quest for effective vaccines.  Adult vaccination strategies, immunization system resilience, and equitable access to diagnostics and treatment are also explored. The book analyzes health disparities, effective public health messaging, and infection control in healthcare and educational settings.  It further discusses telehealth's role in hMPV management, the long-term impacts of the virus, and the importance of a One Health approach. Finally, it examines the impact of air quality, the fight against antimicrobial resistance, and the need for global collaboration.

This book provides a unique and comprehensive analysis of hMPV, going beyond traditional medical perspectives to incorporate social, environmental, and economic factors. It offers valuable insights into health policy, vaccination strategies, and community health approaches, filling a gap in existing literature. The book emphasizes health equity, community engagement, and the importance of addressing social determinants of health, providing a holistic and multidisciplinary perspective on hMPV prevention and control.

A compendium of quotes and riffs by P.J. O'Rourke on subjects ranging from government to fishing to apps, to be published on what would have been his seventy-fifth birthday.

When The Penguin Dictionary of Modern Humorous Quotations was published in 1994, P. J. O'Rourke had more entries than any living writer. And he kept writing funny stuff for another twenty-eight years. Now, for the first time, the best material is collected in one volume. Edited by Terry McDonell, The Funny Stuff is arranged in six sections, organized by subject in alphabetical order from Agriculture to Xenophobia. From his earliest days at the National Lampoon in the 1970s, through his classic reporting for Rolling Stone in the '80s and '90s to his post-Trump, pandemic, new media observations of recent years, P. J. produced incisive, amusing copy. Not only did P. J. write memorable one-liners, he also meticulously constructed riffs that are still being quoted years later. His prose has the electric verbal energy of Tom Wolfe or Hunter Thompson, but P. J. is more flat out funny. And through it all comes his clear-eyed take on politics, economics, human nature—and fun. The Funny Stuff is a book for P. J. fans to devour but also a book that will bring new audiences and stand as testament to one of the truly original American writers of the last fifty years.

    Capital Offence - Why Some...

In Capital Offence award-winning investor Paul Musson shows how the world is becoming increasingly divided on many fronts. One of the root causes of this is that well-intended policymakers have drunk the something-from-nothing Kool-Aid and are convinced that there is such a thing as a free lunch. There isn't. They believe that debt-fueled spending is what leads to economic prosperity. It doesn't. The direct result of these central bank-supported policies is growing wealth disparity where some people are able to extract more from our economic system than they create, while others are left to foot the bill. Most books on this subject speak in a language understood only by those steeped in financial jargon; Paul Musson uses everyday language and analogies to help readers understand why the economy is moving in the wrong direction. The next generation is now poised to be worse off than its predecessors, not because they are less productive, but because older generations are benefiting at their expense – an unsustainable and immoral reality. Paul Musson gives us steps for reform, and while the painful choices ahead are inevitable, facing them now will prevent even greater consequences later.

The aim of this study is to identify and prioritize factors that determine the reputation of insurance companies in Germany and Slovakia. After gaining an overview of the status of the issue through a systematic literature review, the insurers' perspective was examined. The customers' perspective was then examined by means of an online survey, which was answered by 224 insurance customers in Germany and Slovakia. The study showed that other factors often determine reputation in the insurance industry compared to other industries. Based on the results of the study, a 10-point plan was developed that provides insurers with a basis for reputation management in order to eliminate potential reputational risks in advance and prevent reputational damage.
