Synopsis

"Boxing Burn" reveals how to transform your body and mind through the discipline of boxing, regardless of your current fitness level. It's not about fighting, but about harnessing boxing's intensity for a comprehensive fitness regimen. The book uniquely adapts elite boxing training methods, focusing on foundational strength, cardiovascular endurance, and precision coordination.

Did you know targeted exercises build explosiveness in punches and stability in stance, and that coordination is the unsung hero of boxing, honing reflexes, footwork, and hand-eye coordination?

The book progresses from fundamental principles, safety, and equipment to building strength through tailored exercises. It then explores cardiovascular conditioning with running and shadowboxing, followed by coordination and technique drills. Culminating in sample workout programs, the book also provides practical advice on nutrition, recovery, and injury prevention.

This approach empowers readers with the tools to achieve physical and mental well-being.

Drawing from extensive research, personal trials, and client feedback, I have curated the ten most effective exercises for strengthening the back. A strong back not only improves posture and broadens the shoulders, creating a desirable V-shape, but also helps prevent the forward lean that many elderly individuals experience. While some of these exercises may be familiar, others will make back training your favorite part of your workout. Suitable for all fitness levels, these exercises require only a pair of dumbbells and a door frame at a minimum, though access to a gym would allow you to perform all ten. I hope this guide helps you on your journey to achieving an impressive and healthy back. As a certified professional trainer by the National Federation of Professional Trainers (accredited by the NCAA), I bring you this expertise under certificate number 44582. Enjoy your training!

    Frontline Bodies - Sports and...

In Frontline Bodies, Nicolas Martin-Breteau argues that sports are not—and have never been—purely about entertainment for Black Americans. Instead, beginning in the 1890s during Reconstruction, Black Americans proactively used athletics as a tactic to fight racial oppression.

Martin-Breteau considers the work of Edwin B. Henderson, a prominent Black physical educator, civil rights activist, and historian of Black sports. Training Black children as athletes, Henderson felt, would work both to fortify racial pride and to dismantle racial prejudices—two necessary requirements for a successful political liberation struggle. In this way, physical education became political education.

By the end of the twentieth century, Martin-Breteau argues, racial uplift through sports had lost its emancipating power. The emphasis on the accumulation of wealth for professional athletes, as well as sports' ability to reinforce anti-Black stereotypes, had become a political problem for true collective liberation. For a marginalized group of people that has been physically excluded from the democratic process, however, sports remain a political resource. By studying the relationship between athletics and politics, Frontline Bodies renews the history of minority bodies and their power of action.
