Beschreibung

About the book:This book is a collection of flowery poetry about the ups and downs of being a woman in the current state of the world, surviving the patriarchy, living in a man's world, daring to step foot outside the narrow boxes we are all confined to, etc. The book is explicit and comes with a trigger warning for misogyny and sexual assault. It is, however, meant to be cathartic, not triggering. It contains twenty one poems of this nature. This book is meant for mature readers only, considering the themes it deals with.About the author:Ava Mary Pie (she/they) is a poet, author, singer and songwriter from Pune, India. They are currently finishing high school at the tender age of almost 25 and plan to pursue a double major in English and Creative Writing. She has thirteen furry babies, whom they place above everything and everyone else. Her poetry follows no constant set rhyme scheme and her prose is also unique. She is the author of Princess Charming and the Queen of Hearts (debut romantic-erotic novel) and she is working on (least) favourite person, her debut album.

Who knew West Virginia would be the promised land for Two to Three Hundred-Thousand African-Americans escaping the hardships of the South after the Emancipation Proclamation? Like the Black Codes and Jim Crow. Freedom comes in many forms. West Virginia became a refuge for individuals looking for a better life, but it sometimes came with a deadly price. This book captures the spirit of one family’s devotion for one another, and the drive to never give up on the “American Dream” at a time in the United States of America when the desires of Black business owners were plentiful, but the reality of Black business ownership was just a dream...

The comprehensive collection detailing the career of a twentieth-century master In her prolific six-decade career, May Sarton was as at home crafting a novel as she was writing a memoir. However, it was in poetry that Sarton’s feelings were laid bare. She was a writer of immense creativity and strength, and created a back catalog of poetry that could rival those of any of her contemporaries.   In Selected Poems of May Sarton, a collection from her first forty years of writing, many of the author’s classic themes are on display: There are her meditations on solitude, featuring the breathtaking “Gestalt at Sixty”; there is her beautifully written tribute to literature in “My Sisters, O My Sisters”; and there is a rumination on affairs of the heart in an excerpt from the sonnet collection “A Divorce of Lovers.”   Sarton was a true literary force, with the ability to speak to readers of all genders, persuasions, and ages, and Selected Poems of May Sarton demonstrates that power perfectly.
