Aotearoa New Zealand, located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, is a country with a rich and diverse history that stretches back over a thousand years. The Māori people, the indigenous inhabitants of New Zealand, arrived from eastern Polynesia in several waves of migration around the 13th century.
