Sinossi

Jane Annie is a comic opera co-written by Arthur Conan Doyle and J. M. Barrie (creator of Peter Pan), a farcical foray into musical theatre. The story unfolds in a girls' boarding school where the title character, Jane Annie, is determined to win the "good conduct prize" by any means – including mischievous hypnosis of her classmates and teachers. Hijinks ensue as studious Jane's spell causes strict governesses to behave absurdly and young ladies to reveal secrets. Doyle and Barrie's wit shines in the playful dialogue and parodies of school morals. Though not a great success on stage, Jane Annie stands as an intriguing curio in Doyle's oeuvre, showcasing his humorous side and willingness to experiment outside of prose. The operetta's plot is light and satirical, sending up Victorian educational norms and the notion of too good behavior, all culminating in a cheeky, whimsical finale.

'I haven't read a funnier book all year' The Wall Street Journal
The world’s hottest movie couple, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, are enduring a year-long film shoot with the world’s most pernickety film director, Stanley Kubrick. Unfortunately the super-secret film set of Eyes Wide Shut has been invaded by Kubrick’s worst nightmare: Kim the tabloid reporter, complete with his trusty spy-pen camera.
Based on a true story, Movie Rogue details how in 1996 a Sun reporter became an extra on one of the most searingly graphic scenes in movie history. Along the way – it’s said – he also befriended both Tom Cruise and Kubrick. But this reporter is so much more than a mere scum-sucking tabloid hack. He is also a matchmaker, and with a wave of Kim’s pixie dust, even the most far-fetched couples can fall in love.

Bill Nye was a famous American humor columnist in the middle 1800's. He said "We can never be a nation of snobs so long as we are willing to poke fun at ourselves." And he did exactly that in hundreds of newspaper columns that were later collected into books. This is a selection of just 35 of the most humorous, wry and downright funny cogitations of his, written of course in the somewhat convoluted style common in the 19th century which just adds to their flavor in my opinion. The selection process was rigorous: only those that made me laugh, giggle or snort are included.

Kim is not your average member of Her Majesty’s palace staff – but then he shouldn’t be on the staff at all. He’s in fact a Sun staff reporter who’s wormed his way into Buckingham Palace to pick up every bit of dirt and gossip that he can lay his hands on.
Along the way, Kim is faced with many surprising aspects of Palace life that even he didn’t see coming.

Based on the true story of the tabloid hack who became a Queen’s footman, Palace Rogue is a charming, uplifting and utterly outrageous story of love and secrets – all of it set in the heart of one of the world’s most famous houses.
