Beschreibung

If true knowledge, the Gnosis, is again to form a part of Christian teachings, it can only be under the old restrictions, and the idea of levelling down to the capacities of the least developed must be definitely surrendered. Only by teaching above the grasp of the little evolved can the way be opened up for a restoration of arcane knowledge, and the study of the Lesser Mysteries must precede that of the Greater. The Greater will never be published through the printing-press; they can only be given by Teacher to pupil, "from mouth to ear." But the Lesser Mysteries, the partial unveiling of deep truths, can even now be restored, and such a volume as the present is intended to outline these, and to show the nature of the teachings which have to be mastered. Where only hints are given, quiet meditation on the truths hinted at will cause their outlines to become visible, and the clearer light obtained by continued meditation will gradually show them more fully. For meditation quiets the lower mind, ever engaged in thinking about external objects, and when the lower mind is tranquil then only can it be illuminated by the Spirit. Knowledge of spiritual truths must be thus obtained, from within and not from without, from the divine Spirit whose temple we are 4 and not from an external Teacher. These things are "spiritually discerned" by that divine indwelling Spirit, that "mind of Christ," whereof speaks the Great Apostle, 5 and that inner light is shed upon the lower mind.

Does it matter if you are sorry for what you have done—or that you have not done? Does your being sorry—does your remorse—matter? If so, how? Who is helped or changed by it? Can spiritual leaders help people wrestle with some of the most challenging dilemmas of their lives? These are a few of the questions addressed in Remorse: Finding Joy through Honest Apology.

Episcopal priest and licensed therapist Stephen Crippen describes remorse as the crisis—both destructive and creative—that erupts within the human spirit at the point where sin and grace collide. Through personal story and accessible biblical and theological reflection, he explores the experience of remorse, the recognition of this simple truth: "I did this thing, and I should not have done it."

Remorse also speaks to faith leaders who want to help people identify, understand, and work with their burdens of conscience to discern more deeply the grace of God at work in their lives. This work is not easy, Crippen affirms, but it is rich and ultimately satisfying.

Whatever the listener's perspective, this book offers a path and reassurance to all who long for the grace of remorse and need learn only how to begin.

Reflect and inspire the peace of Christ in a world torn by conflict, division, and broken relationships.
In today's chaotic and polarized culture, many people quietly ask, "What difference can I make?" Instead of reacting with frustration or retreating in silence, what if you could reflect the peace of Christ in ways that ease tensions, inspire others, and encourage healthy conversations? In Make Me an Instrument of Peace, thought-leading pastor and author Mark DeYmaz challenges you to rediscover the radical power―and the deep blessings―of authentic peacemaking. Each chapter unpacks a single line of the famous prayer, commonly attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, for meaningful reflection and life application.
This spiritually rich and timely discipleship resource will help you to:

    - explore foundational passages in the Bible, including Isaiah 61 and Luke 4, upon which the Peace Prayer is likely based
    - address key questions after each chapter―ideal for personal study or small group discussion
    - build a biblical framework and practical roadmap for becoming a peacemaker in the face of injustice and division
    - take actionable steps to reject passivity, embrace spiritual formation, and lead others from pain to promise by embodying the humility and hope of Christ
Now more than ever, the world needs believers who don't just pray for peace and reconciliation―but live for it. Make Me an Instrument of Peace will equip you to step into the tension of our times with clarity, courage, and compassion. It's a timely and transformative response for Christians longing to advocate for humanity in a hostile world.

Pilgrim's Progress meets Mad Max in this post-apocalyptic road-trip. On the day he saves his fortress town from raiders, Chris Walker makes a devastating discovery that will overturn everything he believes and force him to leave the safety of his home. As he heads out into a shattered land, Chris must fight for his life and battle his own demons as well.
Will he find a cure for the Tox that is spreading through his nervous system? Will he finally learn the terrifying truth of its origin? Can he put his trust in the mysterious Envoy and his promises?
I love Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress and so when I heard that Andrew Moody was writing a post-apocalyptic transformation of the story, I just had to get my hands on it. And it did not disappoint! The world of the Autonomous Zone is vivid and richly imagined, its characters diverse and beautifully rendered, its insights into human nature mature and incisive. Not only that, but the deep spiritual truths to be mined from these pages left me thinking about the story for some time after I finished it. A book as thought-provoking and spiritually rich as the beloved Christian classic it is based on, but with its own original flair and fresh application for modern issues, The Blood Miles is a story to be devoured in one sitting, then closely contemplated over many more.
