Beschreibung

Agnes Grey is an autobiographical novel which recounts the experience of a young governess born of a financially-ruined clergyman. During England's Victorian period, there wasn't much else for a respectable and intelligent young woman to do: you were either wealthy and had governesses to care for your children, or you were, well, a governess yourself. Such was Anne's life, and the life of her protagonist. Agnes goes to work for two families, the Bloomfields and the Murrays, who are not so much the virtuous Victorian bourgeois, but are the corrupt and callous, but aren't If one were to read the novel for its realistic depiction of life as a governess, it's an incredibly accurate account: the spoiled kids, the sneering servants, the aloof parents with their yapping dogs. If one were to look at Agnes Grey with contemporary eyes, one could see her as a nanny working for a rich couple today in London or New York of today.

Would you make a deal with a big, grumpy troll?

Trolls belong lurking under bridges, not in the arms of beautiful human women. That's what Hisondine tells me. He's not fooling me, though. I see the way he looks at me. I know the way he touches me. He's huge and muscled and hard as stone. But that's not the only thing about him that makes me feel safe. He treats me like I'm precious. I've been a companion to plenty of monsters, but I've never met one who makes me feel special the way he does.

Despite our size difference, it's clear he can't stop thinking about me. So I'm going to do everything I can to make him mine, even if it's only fake dating.

I should be smarter than this. I'm only doing this job to pay off my college debt. I know it's just work and I shouldn't be feeling this way, but I can't help counting the hours until I see him again. But at the end of the day, it's not real. He's a billionaire and I'm an escort.

So how do I turn this dream into a reality? Because I want the fairytale, but it's not the prince I want to take home. It's the monster!

    Contains mature themes.

One chaotic hip-hop dancer with no direction in life. One outrageously handsome scientist who is determined to go back to the Antarctic. Over a shared interest in beekeeping, things start to heat up. But can the path to true love ever flow as smoothly as honey?

Sunny Moritz needs a change. She’s thirty-three, single, weary of?tedious romances with the wrong kind of men?and, according to her disappointed parents, drifting about like a tumbleweed. Her former high school crush, orthopaedic surgeon Adam Harrison,?might be meeting all her physical demands (and requiring a subtotal of zero emotional headspace), but what about the rest of her life?

When Sunny decides to start beekeeping, the man with the information she needs is an?odd, enigmatic and indecently sexy Antarctic scientist. Surely, though, she's way?too pragmatic to be affected by his magnetism …

But as her hunger for meaning starts to bloom, Sunny begins to think that maybe it’s not too late to reconnect with her parents, maybe it’s time to start dancing again and maybe even?she?could have a lasting relationship.

Dancing with Bees ?is easy to read, but hard to put down. In the tradition of Emily Henry and Marian Keyes, this delightful novel bubbles with charm, warmth and humour, but also speaks of the important things in life – like love.

‘A laugh-out-loud funny debut that’s both sexy and heartfelt. A real winner!’ MAYA LINNELL
