Beschreibung

A true leader must cultivate a heart of service rather than authority. What will Earth be like? That’s the question on every Torian human mind. Some, a minority, remember it with fondness. But the majority dread the long-delayed Earth relocation mission. Brandon Foss, their unwitting leader, hardly blames them for their fear of the unknown. Unfortunately, he has too many logistical problems just trying to get them there to deal with that—some of which only validate their fears. It’s been 39 Tora years since the first of 372 Earthlings were revived from cryonic preservation. More than half a century has passed on Earth since their individual abductions. The human population on Banor has grown to more than two thousand, including 348 first-generation survivors. The bulk of these people will be forced to leave the only home they’ve ever known to move to a place with unfamiliar hazards and a shorter life expectancy, where they do not know if they will even be welcome. Then again, they have not exactly felt welcome on Banor the last few years. When a new alien attack coincides with a sobering shave from a cosmic natural disaster, most of the Earthlings finally realize they belong on their home planet, come of it what may.No big project is ever easy, and that’s without the endless chain of sinister roadblocks which seem to plague Brandon’s final mission. Ultimately, the entire human population will have to test the old prophecies about the true identity of their worst enemy if they are to reach a safe harbor where they can build a promising future. This is Book 5 of the Torian Reclamation and the final installment of the series, which took more than eight years to complete. The author hopes the conclusion prompts a rusty old gear or two in your mind to start turning. Enjoy.

Inheritance by Edward W. Ludwig - He had been in the cave for only a short time it seemed. But when he finally emerged the world he knew was gone. And it had left him with a strange—Inheritance
It shone as a pin-point of silver far away in the midnight-blackness of the cave. It shone as a tiny island of life in a sea of death. It shone as a symbol of His mercy.
Martin stood swaying, staring wide-eyed at that wonderful light and letting its image sink deep into his vision. His eyes lidded as consciousness faded for an instant, then opened.
"We've almost made it," he gasped. "We've almost made it, Sandy, you and me and the pup!"
His hand passed tenderly over the puppy, a soft, hairy ball of living warmth cradled in his arm. And from out of the darkness at his feet came a feeble bark.
Martin choked on the ancient, tomb-stale air. "We can't stop now, Sandy," he wheezed. "We're almost there, almost at the entrance!"
He shuffled forward over the cold stone floor of the little cave, the thick, dead air a solid thing, a wall that pressed him back, back, back.
But the light grew larger, expanding like a balloon, and suddenly there was a skittering of dog-paws over stone and a joyous, frantic barking.
"That's right, Sandy, go ahead. Breathe that air, that fresh air!"
Martin staggered once, his lean, tall body thudding against sharp rock in the side of the cave. Then a draft of air blew cool and fresh into his face, and a strength returned to him.
Abruptly, he was at the source of the light, at the cave's entrance, a hole barely large enough for him to squeeze through. The blinding light of day fell upon him like a gigantic, crashing sea wave. He closed his aching eyes and fell to the side of the rock-strewn hill, sucking the clean sweet air deep into his lungs.

The War in the Air: And Particularly How Mr. Bert Smallways Fared While It Lasted is a military science fiction novel written by H. G. Wells. The novel was written in four months in 1907, and was serialized and published in 1908 in The Pall Mall Magazine. It is (like many of Wells's works) notable for its prophetic ideas, images, and concepts—particularly the use of aircraft for the purpose of warfare—as well as conceptualizing and anticipating events related to World War I. The novel's hero and main character is Bert Smallways, who is described as "a forward-thinking young man" and a "kind of bicycle engineer of the let's-'ave-a-look-at-it and enamel-chipping variety."
