Phil Barnett is a photographer, writer, musician, artist and naturalist, who has a passion for the birds that kept him company through a long hard illness. His photography and poetry have quite a following on social media, which is where we found him, on The Daily Haiku. His skill as a photographer leads to an acute visual sensibility, and his slow recovery moves from a tick sheet his mother had to fill in for him, to extraordinary poetry - full of wit and wonder and spectacular language.

  Considered the greatest baseball poem of all time, "Casey at the Bat" is the beloved tale of the Mudville Nine, a hapless baseball club entering the ninth inning of a ballgame down two runs and with little hope of succeeding...unless their star slugger Casey can manage to get a turn at the plate. With two outs, the outlook is grim but...when the two players preceding Casey manage to get on base, the stage is set for a grand finale, giving the citizens of Mudville hope that their hero can save the day! Ernest Lawrence Thayer originally wrote this poem for the San Francisco Examiner and it would go on to become what Baseball Almanac called "the single most famous baseball poem ever written." It is here presented in its original and unabridged form and enhanced with music and sound effects to bring the listener right into the ballpark!

  The story of Medea is only one part of a myth about the Argonauts' campaign. It portrays Jason joining a battle with fire-breathing bulls and a dragon guarding the Golden Fleece, Medea is helping him tame the beasts. She then follows him to Greece, because she falls in love.
  It is also a story of how a once young, beautiful and joyful woman, transforms into a monster, hungry for revenge, she kills even her own children. A long trail of horrible deaths, tied to her life path, is hard to imagine.
