  Peter Freuchen was born on February 2, 1886, in the small town of Nykøbing Falster, Denmark. Raised in a well-off family, his early life was marked by an environment that fostered curiosity and exploration. At the age of 22, Freuchen sailed to Greenland, where he would spend the next several years of his life living among the Inuit people.
