Synopsis

The next installment in Alexander McCall Smith’s charming 44 Scotland Street Series 
 
It’s the most anticipated, and perhaps controversial, event of the decade—Lou and Bob’s wedding—and everyone is invited. But the relative peace and tranquility of 44 Scotland Street is about to be disrupted. Outspoken Irene is returning home for a two-month stay, with plans to send young Bertie  
to a sleepaway camp—a most unappealing proposition. She also manages to come between the enigmatic nun, Sister Maria-Fiore dei Fiori di Montagna, and her dear friend, Antonia Collie. 
 
And what of Bruce Anderson who, after a lightning strike, has developed an unfamiliar personality and outlook? His newfound perspective will be put to the test as he prepares to abandon all creature comforts for a life of monastic simplicity. His house sitter, Borthy Borthwick, meanwhile, gets a little too  
comfortable in his new surroundings and discovers that his talented patron’s shoes are all too easy to slip into. With great taste comes great responsibility.  
 
Though the personal lives of this lovable cast may twist and turn in unexpected ways, one thing always remains certain—home is where the heart is. And that heart lies at 44 Scotland Street.
