Journey through the many stories and worlds of the immortal Vela - Vela, so red and ugly at birth they called him the Cooked; Vela the lonely admirer of pigs and the connoisseur of feet; Vela the lover of song maker Mulialofa the Boneman. Follow him down through the centuries on his travels, encountering the single-minded society of the Tagata-Nei and the Smellocracy of Olfact. The letters of Keats between 1816 and 1821 are passionate, revealing and sensitive. Furthermore, it was within the context of these letters that many of the poems first appeared. Perry Keenlyside has selected some of the most revealing of the letters to show the state of mind and attitudes of the poet while he was writing that made him one of the most loved poets in the English language.

This chapbook of poetry and prose pieces reflects philosophically and aesthetically on the relationships between art and the world, including through the global experience of Covid-related lockdowns. Though generally following an extended haiku-like format, some are longer prose poems, and an extended verse poem reflects on the city where the author lives, Johannesburg, South Africa.

A chilling, blackly comic tale of manipulation, cyberbullying and adolescent insecurity.
In a quiet corner of the internet, a group of bored, restless teenagers spends its time deconstructing children's literature and the messages in modern pop music. But when a new member joins to share his depression and thoughts of suicide, the conversation takes a darker turn.
A powerful depiction of modern-day isolation and the dangerous power of technology, Chatroom formed part of the National Theatre's 2005 Connections season, where it starred Matt Smith and Andrew Garfield.

A penetrating play about belonging, family and the limitations of communication. Winner of Best New Play, at the Off-West End Theatre Awards.
Billy's family, like every other, is a club, with its own private language, jokes and rules. You can be as rude as you like, as possessive as you like, as critical as you like. Arguments are an expression of love, and after all, you love each other more than anyone in the world. Don't you?
But Billy, who is deaf, is the only one who actually listens. When he meets Sylvia, he decides he finally wants to be heard.

The collected works of one of contemporary poetry’s most original voicesGathered together, the poems of Frank Bidart perform one of the most remarkable transmutations of the body into language in contemporary literature. His audio represent the human voice in all its extreme registers, whether it’s that of the child-murderer Herbert White, the obsessive anorexic Ellen West, the tormented genius Vaslav Nijinsky, or the poet’s own. And in that embodiment is a transgressive empathy, one that recognizes our wild appetites, the monsters, the misfits, the misunderstood among us and inside us. Few writers have so willingly ventured to the dark places of the human psyche and allowed themselves to be stripped bare with such candor and vulnerability. Over the past half century, Bidart has done nothing less than invent a poetics commensurate with the chaos and appetites of our experience.Half-light encompasses all of Bidart’s previous books, and also includes a new collection, Thirst, in which the poet austerely surveys his life, laying it plain for us before venturing into something new and unknown. Here Bidart finds himself a “Creature coterminous with thirst”, still longing, still searching in himself, one of the “queers of the universe”.Visionary and revelatory, intimate and unguarded, Bidart’s Half-light: Collected Poems 1965-2017 is a radical confrontation with human nature, a conflict eternally renewed and reframed, restless line by restless line.
