A true vagabond, Alan Hodgkiss has spent the past four decades seeking out opportunities on three continents with varying degrees of success but always infinite supplies of optimism. 
Born into a working class Lancashire family during the early years of world war two, he joined the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers of the British Army and saw service in the Middle East and Africa in the early nineteen sixties. 
By the end of the decade, the desire for more from life prompted Alan and his wife Rita to answer the siren's call of emigration to Canada.	This proved to be the first of countless moves across oceans and continents in pursuit of the perfect rainbow and business opportunities. Alan adds to the editors comments, that he wrote Memories of a Nobody at the request of his many friends but went on to say that they only asked because they could close a book but were too polite to tell him to shut up.
