Synopsis

"Whispers in Wool" unravels a charming tale set in the picturesque town of Alpaca Ridge, where the annual Fiber Arts Festival is thrown into disarray by the mysterious disappearance of valuable yarn. Yara Chen, a skilled knitter and the new owner of the 'Knit & Pearl' café, finds herself at the center of this woolly whodunit. With her reputation on the line and the festival's success hanging by a thread, Yara must employ her keen eye for detail and amateur sleuthing skills to solve the case.

Accompanied by her loyal alpaca, Woolbert, and a colorful cast of knitting circle friends, Yara navigates the close-knit community, following a trail of clues cleverly concealed within intricate knitting patterns. As she untangles the mystery, readers are treated to a warm and inviting portrayal of small-town life, complete with its quirks, charms, and occasional tensions.

The story weaves together themes of craftsmanship, belonging, and the power of community, all while maintaining an air of intrigue that will keep readers guessing until the final stitch is sewn.

Nothing ruins a good walk on the beach like finding a mysterious suitcase full of damaged bones and a skull. The discovery rocks the peaceful community of Mermaid Bay, known for its historic beach cottages. The gruesome find is nothing like the usual summer ills of litterbugs and teens drinking under the pier for the idyllic seaside community, located a few miles from Virginia’s historic triangle of Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. Ominous posters, followed by threatening notes and voodoo dolls, push the already-worried town’s business owners closer to the edge. Then, while trying to cope with the onslaught of threats to their community, prickly bookstore owner Emory Jessup turns up dead, strangled with a string of holiday lights. Christmas shoppe owner Jade Hicks has to connect the dots among all the strange occurrences before the summer tourist season is ruined and the spotlight of blame is focused on her store.

Gilley's whirlwind romance with creative director Stuart Jacobs began in Paris, where Stuart was sourcing fabric for the world-renowned Texas Rose Festival, which he is heading up for the first time. The festival is nothing short of spectacular, bringing in half a million people (and their wallets) to see the artistic displays, and exquisite gowns and jewels worn by the Rose Queen and her court. Stuart and his crew seem to have it all under control. But the night Cat arrives in Texas, someone is shot in cold blood, and a member of Stuart's staff is named the prime suspect!

The Rose Festival is too important to the city's economy to cancel, so while Stuart scrambles to prevent the festival from derailing, Cat and Gilley launch their own investigation into the murder. With a parade of potential suspects to parse, and an even longer list of motives, they bring in East Hampton Police Detective Steve Shepherd to help. As rumors of arson, burglary, and professional sabotage swirl around the already fraught festival planning, Cat and her team immerse themselves in the cutthroat pageantry to identify the killer, who has already picked their next victim . . .
