Beschreibung

The work now presented to the Members of the Ælfric Society, the first fruit of its praiseworthy attempt to rescue from oblivion the literary remains of our forefathers, was selected for the earliest publication of the Society, on account both of its valuable matter and the beautiful medium by which it is conveyed. Of the author of the Sermones Catholici we know nothing with certainty beyond his name, though from the words of his own preface, where he speaks of king Æthelred's days as past, and informs us that in those days he was only a monk and mass-priest.

God, the Woman, and Their Enemy is a thought-provoking exploration of gender, power, and prophecy, offering a fresh perspective on the role of women in the divine narrative. Author Joseph Brice challenges listeners to reconsider traditional interpretations and to recognize the pivotal role women will play in the ultimate battle between good and evil, as foretold in the scriptures.
Joseph traces the historical subjugation of women back to the fall of Eden, where they were blamed and held responsible, leading to a loss of their original authority. However, he asserts that with Christ's death, through his blood and resurrection, both men and women were restored to their rightful places, intended to work together in unity. Yet, sin disrupted this divine order, leading to division, strife, and even the institution of slavery.
The prophecy in Eden, where God foretold a future in which the woman's offspring would crush the serpent's head, is re-examined in this book to highlight the woman's role in the cosmic battle between good and evil. As Joseph explores prophetic scriptures, particularly in the Book of Revelation, he foresees a time in the last days when women will be fully restored to a position of extraordinary power.
The book contends that this woman's rise to power is inevitable, a culmination of her trials and tribulations throughout history. Once considered second-class, she will now move to the forefront, fulfilling the prophecy in Revelation where she is destined to sit on the throne. Her power and glory will be unparalleled, marking a turning point in the world's history. At the heart of Joseph's argument is the idea of a woman unlike any other—a woman of mixed race, creed, and culture, who embodies the ancient and modern world all at once. This woman, described in prophetic terms, will rise to a position of unprecedented power and influence, becoming the most powerful being on the planet!

Today, the doctrine of the beatific vision has been woefully forgotten within the church and its theology.
Yet, throughout history Christians have always held that the blessed hope of heaven lies in seeing and being in the presence of God, of beholding the beatific vision. With lucidity and breadth, Parkison reintroduces the beatific vision and affirms its centrality for the life of the church today. Parkison argues for the beatific vision's biblical foundations and reminds us—through close readings of theologians such as Anselm of Canterbury, Thomas Aquinas, Dante, Gregory Palamas, John Calvin, and Jonathan Edwards—of the doctrine's historical and contemporary significance. The beatific vision is about seeing God, and as Christians have acknowledged across the tradition, seeing God is our ultimate end.

    Read by the author.
You were wired for joy. Not put-a-fake-smile-on-it joy. Not I-feel-guilty-about-being-sad joy. But deep-down, laugh-out-loud, overflowing joy that thrives no matter your personality or circumstances.
It's time to take your joy back! Maybe you're wondering why life has to be so confusing. Maybe you're tired of feeling anxious. Maybe you're just blah lately. Bible teacher, songwriter, and one of Christian music's most contagiously joyful voices, Pastor Tauren Wells has a powerful reminder for you: Jesus' first message was about how to be truly happy. Think about it: How important to the heart of God must your joy be if Jesus uses the word "happy" eight times in his first recorded sermon on planet Earth (aka: the Beatitudes)?
In Joy Bomb, Pastor Tauren helps us embrace the truth that God's greatest longing is not only for our holiness, but for our happiness. This biblically rooted, exuberantly hope-filled book walks us through:Eight life-changing ways to reorient our lives toward joyUnderstanding why joy is not dependent on our emotional state or the state of the worldWhat attitudes or behaviors keep us from experiencing God's joyHow we can become freer in worship, life, and our relationship with GodWhy Jesus' ways of living don't just create warm fuzzies but create joy deep within us

We find more in this life than we ever imagined when we understand the patterns and promises of God's kingdom. More fulfillment, more purpose, more satisfaction--and radical joy.
