"Flight of the Bumblebee" (Russian: Полёт шмеля) is an orchestral interlude written by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan, composed in 1899–1900. Its composition is intended to musically evoke the seemingly chaotic and rapidly changing flying pattern of a bumblebee. Despite the piece's being a rather incidental part of the opera, it is today one of the more familiar classical works because of its frequent use in popular culture.

Our Miss Brooks was a big radio hit from the get go. Eve Arden may not have been the original first choice but she made the role her own and gathered individual awards by the armful.

All the way up until its debut in 1949 women had been, as in much of life, the subordinate gender, supporters and flag-wavers rather than equals or the stars.

Our Miss Brooks helped change that. Here was a woman, not confined to life as a housewife. She was confident, funny and layered with sometimes conflicting emotions, trying to gain a boyfriend of her choosing and holding down a job as a high-school teacher. It was quite a menu.

Jeff Chandler played her shy biology teacher love interest, Mr Boynton. And the dynamics and laughs between themselves, the students, their colleagues, and principal, all played by a very fine cast, make this situation comedy one of radios funniest and finest.

Diana Alstad and Joel Kramer feel there is a tremendous amount of human potential that is untapped, but we have been stunted by various beliefs, limited identities, and rigid worldviews. In particular, they feel spiritual traditions make people feel inadequate and bad about themselves for not being selfless enough and for being self-centered.

Icon painting has reached its zenith in Ukraine between the 11th and 18th centuries. This art is appealing because of its great openness to other influences – the obedience to the rules of Orthodox Christianity in its early stages, the borrowing from Roman heritage or later to the Western breakthroughs – combined with a never compromised assertion of a distinctly Slavic soul and identity.
This book presents a handpicked and representative selection of works from the 11th century to the late Baroque period.

Beginning with their introduction in the eleventh century, and ending with their widespread abandonment in the seventeenth, Marc Morris explores many of the country's most famous castles, as well as some spectacular lesser-known examples. At times this is an epic tale, driven by characters like William the Conqueror, King John, and Edward I, full of sieges and conquest on an awesome scale. But it is also by turns an intimate story of less eminent individuals, whose adventures, struggles, and ambitions were reflected in the fortified residences they constructed. Be it ever so grand or ever so humble, a castle was first and foremost a home.To understand castles-who built them, who lived in them, and why-is to understand the forces that shaped medieval Britain.
