Stephen Crane
Stephen Crane wurde 1871 in Newark geboren. Als Journalist und Kriegsberichterstatter erlebte er zwei Kriege in Griechenland und Kuba. Er schuf in seinem kurzen Leben ein enormes Werk: Lyrik, Erzählungen und Romane. 1889 siedelte Crane nach England über und freundete sich mit Joseph Conrad, H. G. Wells und Henry James an. Anfang Juni 1900 starb Stephen Crane mit nur 28 Jahren in Badenweiler an den Folgen einer Tuberkuloseerkrankung.
