The guys share some of their favorite calls about the world where cars and animals meet. Luckily, it’s not dog-eat-dog, but sometimes it’s horse-eat-steering-wheel.Tom and Ray Magliozzi are America's foremost auto mechanics. So usually people phone in to their radio show with questions about cars—buying them, driving them, keeping them running. But every so often, out of the blue, Click and Clack are also called on to be amateur veterinary psychologists. They're asked to figure out why a horse has eaten a steering wheel, or why a 100-pound dog insists on riding on the roof of a pickup truck, or how a white rat the size of a two-liter Coke bottle got into a poor young woman's Chevy. And while they might not know the answer, they always come up with something. This is a collection of calls about cars, animals, and the mysterious, often hilarious times when they meet. It leads Tom and Ray down a familiar path—of wild speculation, occasional brilliant suggestions, and lots of laughs. This is a must-have for anyone who loves animals, particularly the two that host Car Talk.

After seven years ashore and after having his left leg amputated, Tristan Jones decided to return to the sea. He began to piece together Operation Star and found the perfect vessel in a 36-foot trimaran. In October 1983, Jones and his only crew member, Wally Rediske, set out in Outward Leg from San Diego, intending to circumnavigate the world from west to east by sail. The book is the exciting story of Tristan's preparation for this major seagoing event and the chronicle of half of it. Tristan sailed down the western coast of Central America through the Panama Canal to a small Colombian town. There he had to fight for survival among hostile natives, drug dealers, and uncooperative port officers. He went on to Venezuela, Aruba, and the Dominican Republic during its 1984 revolution. Finally he reached New York and crossed the Atlantic to return to St. Katharine's Dock in London where he began his seagoing life thirty years before.

A photographic history of German submarines in the world wars, including unseen images from the personal collections of captains and crew.   U-boats were the scourge of the seas for Allied shipping during both world wars, almost bringing Britain to the brink of starvation on several occasions. This book contains unseen photographs taken by German submarine crew and captains during each war.   The World War One selection features a submariner’s photos of U-25, an early German U-boat. They belonged to WO Friedrich Pohl, who served on U-boats SM-25 and SMU-33. There are many photos of the U-boat itself, crew on deck, and attacks on Norwegian merchant ships with the surface gun. U-25 was launched July 12, 1913, sank a total of twenty-one ships and 14,126 tons, and surrendered to France on February 23, 1919.   The World War Two photos include images from an original WW2 U-boat commander’s photo album. It belonged to Kapitan Leutnant Herbert Bruninghaus. As a U-boat navigator, he served on the famous U-38 under ace Heinrich Liebe. Bruninghaus later went on to command three U-boats of his own: U-6, U-148, and U-1059. There are also original images from a Kriegmarine officer’s photo album (unfortunately unnamed), including photos of Commander Prien’s U-47 returning to Kiel after attacks at Scapa Flow.

Three award-winning advertising executives prove that in business, Sacred Cows deserve to die.Don't get us wrong. While the authors have nothing against cows in general-they love steak-they do have a problem with Sacred Cows. Blindly doing things because...well...that's the way they've always been done. Formulas may be comforting, but they rarely work in the real world. For example:-Always Trust Your Research. BANG. Research should be used to demystify decisions, not make them for you.-The Customer Is Always Right. BANG. Except in those instances when they are woefully wrong.-Always Focus on Solving the Problem. BANG. Focusing instead on the opportunity not only solves the problem but leads to more imaginative and lasting solutions.-Follow the Leader. BANG. Doing so only plays to his strengths, not yours. After all, he drives the category.-Focus on the Numbers. BANG. Great numbers are a by-product of great strategies.-Teams Create the Best Solutions. BANG. Team dynamics usually kill great ideas.-Internal Competition Leads to Better Results. BANG. It only leads to resentment. In this hysterically irreverent and wise book, Beau Fraser, David Bernstein, and Bill Schwab share their successful approach to euthanizing Sacred Cows through humorous and vivid real-world, global examples.

The Minimalist Home: The Ultimate Guide to Minimalist Living, Learn Why Less is Actually More and Be on Your Way to an Organized and Focused Life Most of us know we own too much stuff. We can't escape the evidence of clutter all around us. You can't see the surface of tables and countertops, drawers won't close, closets are filled top to bottom, we don't even know half of what's in our attic or storage boxes in our garage! We have a hard time keeping things clean and organized because of too much stuff and sometimes, just looking at everything makes you tired already. Studies show that the average American home contains 300,000 items. And even though American homes have tripled in size in the past 50 years, there is an increase in the number of storage facilities all over the country. In fact, 1 in 10 Americans rent off-site storage. Studies and figures are confirming our observation that we own too much stuff and this is robbing us of life. The good news is lots of people are getting to this realization as well. This is the reason why the idea of minimalist living has been gaining popularity and momentum in recent years. More and more people are realizing how much better their lives can be when they switch to a minimalist lifestyle. This audiobook will help you take a closer look at what changing to a minimalist way of living could mean to you and how it could help you to enjoy greater peace of mind. You will have a how-to guide to switching to a minimalist lifestyle and this audiobook will also give you all the tools you need to make an informed decision about whether you could benefit from making the change.
