  Oedipus Rex, also known as Oedipus the King or Oedipus the Tyrant, is an Athenian tragedy by Sophocles that was first performed about 429 BC (noted classicist Gilbert Murray, translator of this version of the play, rendered the title as Oedipus, King of Thebes). It was the second in order of Sophocles's composition of his three plays dealing with Oedipus. Thematically, however, it was the first in the trilogy's historical chronology, followed by Oedipus at Colonus and then Antigone. Oedipus the King tells the story of Oedipus, a man who becomes the king of Thebes, whilst in the process unwittingly fulfilling a prophecy that he would kill his father Laius and marry his mother Jocasta. The play is an example of classic tragedy, notably containing an emphasis upon how Oedipus's own faults contribute to his downfall (as opposed to making fate the sole cause). Over the centuries, Oedipus Rex has come to be regarded by many as the Greek tragedy par excellence.

  LibriVox volunteers bring you 13 recordings of A Cry From an Indian Wife by E. Pauline Johnson,. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for January 29, 2012.In 1892 the opportunity of a lifetime came to this young versifier, when Frank Yeigh, the president of the Young Liberals' Club, of Toronto, conceived the idea of having an evening of Canadian literature, at which all available Canadian authors should be guests and read from their own works.Among the authors present on this occasion was Pauline Johnson, who contributed to the programme one of her compositions, entitled "A Cry from an Indian Wife"; and when she recited without text this much-discussed poem, which shows the Indian's side of the North-West Rebellion, she was greeted with tremendous applause from an audience which represented the best of Toronto's art, literature and culture. She was the only one on the programme who received an encore, and to this she replied with one of her favourite canoeing poems.The following morning the entire press of Toronto asked why this young writer was not on the platform as a professional reader; while two of the dailies even contained editorials on the subject, inquiring why she had never published a volume of her poems, and insisted so strongly that the public should hear more of her, that Mr. Frank Yeigh arranged for her to give an entire evening in Association Hall within two weeks from the date of her first appearance.   Here We Go Again evolved from Heartland Inspirations, Kentucky Wonder and Inspirations Anew for You, continuing my being inspired by life and the desire to lift up others. Everyone needs an occasional lift from life's challenges which tests our coping ability. I believe Here We Go Again will provide that moment for you. 
  Ronald Franklin Saia was born a grandson to a Italian from Sutera, Sicily. Growing up in rural Kansas gave Ronald a deep feeling in his soul for the outdoors. He hunted, trapped, rode his buckskin mare old Beauty, slept under the stars and cooked supper over an open camp fire. He is a real American patriot. While Ronald worked his way through college, he lived at home with his precious mother, Mary, and father, Victor. What a blessing it was for God to have chosen them for this parents. 
  For a time, he worked in Venezuela where he met his wife, Barb. He has traveled in South/Central America and Europe. Ronald's inspirations/poetry are straight from his heart and represent a true appreciation for creation and God's works along with life's experiences and personal observations.
