  The acclaimed painter’s memoir of his experiences as a fighter pilot during WWII includes original illustrations and satirical cartoons by the author.   Renowned as the world’s foremost painter of railroads, Howard Fogg’s career spanned half a century and some 1,200 paintings. However, few are aware of his prior career as a fighter pilot in the US 8th Air Force during World War II. Fortunately, Fogg left behind a detailed diary, which illuminates this brief but exciting chapter of his life at the controls of P-47 Thunderbolts and P-51 Mustangs.   Fogg’s diary is presented here in its entirety, offering a candid glimpse into the life of a fighter pilot, both in the sky and in wartime England.
