  But finding a starting point can be overwhelming, even off-putting, so in this series we offer up our Top 10 classic poets, who brim with talent and verse, on a range of subjects and themes that we can all enjoy. 
  In this volume we gather some of those poets who perished before they reached the age of 30.  Whether by war, their own hand, accident or other cause their legacies are a bright reminder of just how talented their short lives were.

  Tom Stodulka has loved to write for many years, though as a child he found this form of expression was a struggle. As the years progressed, through high school and law school, Stodulka gained an appreciation of language and how it could be used a s a tool for making a difference. His confidence grew enough to write diaries of his life in the Navy and eventually in 1976, on board the HMAS Duchess , he wrote his first poem, The World and the Future, which features in his first publication, Strom Clouds and Silver Linings; My Journey. 
  In this, his fifth publication, Tom continues to reflect, share his creative output and positively impact those with his work. Life is Love contains seventy brand new poems along with thirty of his previous works that his dedicated readers have requested be featured as special favourites. Also you will find reflections from fellow authors and Tom’s publisher on their experience of sharing special creative moments with him. 
  People often ask me what inspires me to write. The answer is simple; I love capturing the moment of a changing world and value incredibly the impact my writing has on my readers, whether it is my wife, family and friends, or complete strangers across the globe. A big thank you to you all.

  Meet Fanny Mendelssohn. You'll probably know of her younger brother Felix, from nineteenth-century smash hits like 'The Wedding March'. He was such a huge star that Queen Victoria requested a private concert, during which she sang her favourite of his compositions, a song called 'Italien'.
  The only problem is, that particular piece was actually composed by Fanny, though it was published under her brother's name.
  When Fanny intercepts the letter inviting Felix to play for the queen, she decides to hide it away, don her brother's clothes, and take his place at the palace…
  Calum Finlay's play Fanny is a joyful and irreverent comedy celebrating music, family and – at last – the work of a composer overlooked because of her sex. It opened at the Watermill Theatre, Newbury, in 2024.

  Alan Payne's poems are rooted in the Caribbean, evoking a sense of separation and loss, and touch on the contradictions and betrayals of colonialism.

  A cruel conqueror has captured the Spanish city of Fuente Ovejuna. As his reign of terror builds, the townspeople look within themselves to find the courage to overthrow him. The eminent Spanish playwright Lope de Vega based his best-known play on a historical incident that took place in 1476. Written in the early 17th century, the play remains a timely meditation on honor and selflessness in the face of oppression.
