Sinossi

Walt Whitman's "Complete Works" encapsulates the full breadth of his groundbreaking contributions to American literature, encompassing his poetic masterpieces, essays, and prose. Renowned for his free verse style, Whitman's work defies traditional poetic structures, creating a lyrical and rhythmic flow that reflects his belief in the individual and the collective human experience. Key themes such as democracy, nature, and the interconnectedness of all beings resonate throughout, while his candid expressions of sensuality and spirituality challenge societal norms of the 19th century. This compilation illustrates Whitman's innovative approach to language and form, marking him as a pivotal figure in the transition from Romanticism to Modernism in American literature. Walt Whitman, a pivotal voice in the American Renaissance, drew inspiration from his experiences as a journalist, a nurse during the Civil War, and an ardent advocate for social reform. Born in 1819 in Long Island, New York, Whitman's literary journey was shaped by the tumultuous social landscape of his time, including expansive notions of freedom and equality. His reflections on democracy and the human condition were deeply influenced by his belief in the potential of every individual and the promise of a rapidly evolving America. For readers seeking profound insight into the complexities of existence and the beauty of the human spirit, Whitman's "Complete Works" is an indispensable treasure. This anthology not only offers a sweeping exploration of his poetic genius but also serves as a mirror to the struggles and aspirations of his era. Engaging with this text will undoubtedly enrich one's understanding of the American literary canon and inspire contemporary readers to reflect on their own identities within the collective narrative.

Improvised Explosive Device is a startlingly innovative exploration of extremism, hate crime and violence by poet Arji Manuelpillai. In this powerful and unsettling first collection, Manuelpillai presents a vision of the contemporary haunted by Melville's image of the whale – the terror beneath the surface of the sea. His uncompromising focus on violence is laced with gallows humour and the surreal, framed against the mundane detritus of modern life: two boys playing Mortal Kombat; a field of old trainers; the lonely glare of laptop light; a suspicious looking package in the back seat of a van.
The poems in Improvised Explosive Device emerged through research and interviews with academics, sociologists, and former members of extremist groups and their families – from the English Defence League and the National Front to ISIS and the Tamil Tigers. These complex, unnerving texts ask a series of important questions. What drives a person to commit a radical act of violence? How is that violence mediated through screens and social media? And how does the British government police marginalised groups? Improvised Explosive Device is a brave, surprising and risk-taking book; it will change the way you look at the world.
"Refusing glib analysis and easy answers, Improvised Explosive Device is a work of radical empathy, fuelled by honesty and compassion, both for those stirred to violence against minorities, and those who suffer from it." Rishi Dastidar
"The project of Arji Manuelpillai's Improvised Explosive Device leans into the mighty disciplines of poetry, sociology, and reportage to formulate an arresting debut which contests the ways we're conditioned to internalise notions of terrorism, nationalism and belonging...a bold and startling new work." Anthony Anaxagorou

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Paper Palace, a Reese's Book Club Pick, comes a debut poetry collection that paints a moving portrait of a rich life from childhood to love to marriage to motherhood to divorce and beyond.

"Breathtaking . . . will change the way you see the world." —Daisy Goodwin, author of The American Heiress

If I could fly backward, I would. To the safety of branches, to the time when my heart still raced for you, twelve hundred beats a minute.

In poetry that is at once bold and lyrical, affecting and devastatingly frank, Miranda Cowley Heller takes us through childhood, marriage, motherhood, and beyond. Suffused with the natural world and the landscape of Cape Cod, where many of the poems are set, What the Deep Water Knows contemplates love in all the seasons.

This Poem is Titled 'Beauty of the Human Form. ::
It is a poem about the never ending fascination of People with the Human body.
Some might say, its in our DNA. That maybe so.
The Greeks knew how to display it, as both eroticism and as an Art form.
Showing both sexes in the 'Perfect' perfection of Beauty!
Unfortunately; the human form, especially the female human form has been in the last few decades
since the new renaissance or as we call the sexual revolution or as is now the 'free society'.
Denigrated to an object not of art but purely of desire, or descended into the more pornographic exploitive realms of decor art.
*NO A.I. has been used in the creation of this Poem. * As for all his poems & s/stories.*
*Just the purity of thought of the Author.
