Beschreibung

Mammonart. An Essay on Economic Interpretation is a book of literary criticism from a Socialist point of view of the traditional “great authors” of Western and American literature (along with a few painters and composers). Mammonart was first published in 1925 and is part of the “Dead Hand” series—six books Upton Sinclair (1878–1968) wrote on American institutions. Sinclair was an American writer, muckraker, political activist, and the 1934 Democratic Party nominee for Governor of California. He published nearly 100 books in several genres. He was well known and popular in the first half of the 20th century, and he won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1943.

‘Zest! Seller’ is a series of short, true, humorous and horrific stories from Chris Joseph’s life that can be read together or in isolation. They should give listeners an insight into the joyful, painful, but certainly crazy world that he has inhabited where insanity often follows creativity. The shocking story of the case against Australia's most highly decorated soldier, Ben Roberts-Smith VC MG, and the defamation trial of the century.

With a Victoria Cross and Medal for Gallantry, Ben Roberts-Smith was the most highly decorated Australian soldier, the best of the best. When he returned to civilian life, he became a poster boy for a nation hungry for warrior heroes. He embodied the myth of the classic Anzac, seven-foot-tall and bulletproof. But as his public reputation continued to grow, inside the army rumours were circulating.

Gold Walkley Award winning journalist Chris Masters was the first to investigate the rumours of summary executions, bloodings and bullying, and began to examine more closely the man we wanted to hero-worship. When the stories hit the headlines, and with a billionaire media baron's backing, Ben Roberts-Smith sued. So commenced the defamation trial of the century, a courtroom contest of tightrope tactics and fierce wit.

Chris Masters tells the extraordinary story of Ben Roberts-Smith, the man at the centre of this de facto war crimes trial, from the battlegrounds of Afghanistan to the front lines of the Federal Court.

‘After 40 years of producing landmark journalism, Masters is still doing it. And he’s still obsessive about the truth, relentless and fearless.’ Nick McKenzie

'If there was a Victoria Cross for bravery in journalism, Chris Masters deserves to receive it.' Phillip Adams

    THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER
The inside story of Mikel Arteta’s astonishing transformation of Arsenal
November 2019. Unai Emery’s final game as Arsenal manager sees the Gunners languishing eighth in the league. Appointed in the dying embers of the Wenger years, Emery’s 18 months as Arsenal boss has seen the team and the club go backwards – playing unimaginative, pragmatic football, and recently losing to London rivals Chelsea in the final of the Europa League. Something had to change; a fresh head with fresh ideas. A new leader.
This is the story of how Mikel Arteta turned Arsenal into one of the most exciting, innovative and feared teams in the league. From cutting his teeth as an assistant under Pep Guardiola before joining Arsenal in the winter of 2019, through to title contenders years later – including bust-ups, Covid, disappointments, FA Cup wins, fan revolt, and eventually the rise of an extraordinary young team standing on the edge of greatness – this book will be the first of its kind to explore the workings of Arteta’s philosophy and how he transformed the club from outsiders to title challengers.
With chapters on his tactical innovations, in-game strategies, transfer insight and, of course, an account of the memorable 2022-23 season – Revolution is the story of an extraordinary football ascent and the first draft of Arsenal’s new history.
The latest bestseller, Revolution, is a non-fiction masterpiece that chronicles the rise of Arsenal in the 21st century under the leadership of Mikel Arteta. It provides an in-depth look into the economics and management strategies employed, making it a must-read for fans and business enthusiasts alike.
For fans of Ray Walker (The Ultimate Los Angeles Rams Trivia Book), Joshua Robinson (Messi vs. Ronaldo), David Dein (Calling the Shots), Jon Spurling (Get It On), and Ian Wright (A Life in Football).

The delightfully comic account of a British couple and their imported cats starting over in a new country continues in Bucket to Greece Volume 4. The atmosphere is tense in the Bucket household, with Barry and Cynthia, or specifically Cynthia and her vile mutant cat, having outstayed their welcome. The race is on for them to find somewhere to live before their imminent wedding. Harold's house has potential, but Barry needs Victor's help to take advantage of the obnoxious Brit.

With chickens to tend and local politics to break into, Victor discovers retirement offers little time for lazing about. He takes to the sea, repping on the lazy day cruise in the company of the ouzo loving Kapetanios Vasos and his mute sidekick Sami, and crams up on Greek aphrodisiacs to prepare for a gastronomic excursion. Victor schemes to rid the house of superfluous kittens, hatches a plot to ensure the local taverna isn't turned into a tourist attraction, and lends a hand with the search when Spiros' uncle Leo goes on the missing list. Spiros, courting the fragrant Sampaguita, introduces her to the exciting ex-pat scene of inedible foreign dinners; Milton is targeted by vanity publishing scammers, and a stubborn sheep stalks the streets of Meli.
