China Nexus - Thirty Years In...

Benedict Rogers, born in London, England, first went to China at age eighteen to teach English for six months in Qingdao, three years after the Tiananmen Square massacre. That opened the door to a thirty-year adventure with China, from teaching English in schools and hospitals to working as a journalist in Hong Kong for the first five years after the handover to travelling to China’s borders with Myanmar/Burma and North Korea to document the plight of refugees escaping from Beijing-backed satellite dictatorships and then campaigning for human rights in China, especially for Uyghurs, Christians and Falun Gong practitioners, human rights defenders, journalists and dissidents, and the people of Hong Kong.

This book tells the story of his fight for freedom for the peoples of China and neighbouring countries Myanmar and North Korea and sets out how a global movement for human rights in China is emerging and what the free world should do next. It describes the importance of the “China Nexus” in the author’s journey and geopolitics and its challenges. Pioneering international inquiries into forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience, the genocide of the Uyghurs and global action for Hong Kong, as well as highlighting the Vatican’s silence, the author has been at the heart of advocacy for human rights in China in recent years.

In 2017, on the orders of Beijing, he was denied entry to Hong Kong, 20 years after he had moved to the city and began his working life as a journalist and activist. Benedict Rogers co-founded Hong Kong Watch and worked with a variety of other international groups at the forefront of the fight for freedom, including the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance for China (IPAC), the Stop Uyghur Genocide Campaign, the China Democracy Foundation, the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission which he co-founded, and the international human rights organization CSW with which he has worked for over 25 years.

This book hits the Chinese Communist Party hard on their lack of Human Rights efficacy, genocide, and despicable and barbaric organ harvesting programs (an estimated $1 billion US a year business).

Rogers takes the readers on a journey through some of the leaders and participants in the Human rights activities that China has suppressed since its inception in 1949. He goes on to dispute and lays to rest all of the specious claims by the tyrants in Beijing that all Chinese citizens are equal and are afforded human and civil rights. Currently, the regime is engaged in re-education, cultural assimilation, and multiple genocides, leading to better citizens for China and the world if one believes Chinese officials.

China’s ambassador to Canada says reports of genocide and forced labour of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang province are the “lie of the century,” despite international bodies like the United Nations deeming the reports of such activities “numerous and credible.” The author will completely dispel that notion.

What does it take to make a dictator answer for his crimes? Hissène Habré, the former despot of Chad, terrorized, tortured, and killed on a horrific scale over eight years in power—while enjoying full American and Western support. After Habré’s overthrow, his victims and their supporters were determined to see him held responsible for his atrocities. Their quest for justice would be long, tense, and unnerving, but they would not back down.

To Catch a Dictator is an insider's account of the hunt for Habré and his momentous trial. The human rights lawyer Reed Brody recounts how he and an international team of investigators, legal experts, and victims worked across three continents to unearth evidence and witnesses, petition courts and skeptical governments, and rally public opinion. They faced many obstacles and constant threats. Habré fought back bitterly, drawing on secret bank accounts and extensive political connections to preserve his life of luxurious exile. Yet Brody and his allies ultimately triumphed: Habré became the first former head of state to be convicted of crimes against humanity in the courts of another country. This fast-paced, suspenseful book shows that there is nothing inevitable about the impunity that too often protects the powerful and that even the worst tyrants can be brought to justice.

This book has a message for everyone concerned about the direction of politics in Scotland, the UK and beyond: do not despair. There are realistic, left alternatives to being stuck in a political 'doom loop'.
In 1975 the Red Paper on Scotland, edited by the young, radical Gordon Brown was a seminal publication; it helped create, not just catch, the mood of the day.
Fifty years later a new group of writers have come together to write about what we can learn from the past and how we can shape what lies ahead.
The authors of this book believe only a radical redistribution of wealth and power within a democratic economy will engage Scottish voters. It calls on us to Keep Left.

We have been terrified into submission. Words like pandemic and images of horror have been thrust upon us. It is all a scam. A lie. It is part of a long-term plot to control, manipulate and enslave mankind.

A divided world has been brought together under a common threat and it is just the beginning.

There are massive, global revolutions being created and fostered by a powerful, dark and sinister group that have directed the sheep for countless generations. Very soon you will be asked to do things you would never have contemplated before and you will do them gladly.

This is the story of how your freedoms and liberties are being taken away from you without you even caring. In fact you will be happy to lose them. And all because of a small virus created by that same elite group and let loose upon mankind for a very malevolent end.

George Orwell said: "Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." This book will prove that he was right all along...

What happens when a political comeback becomes a turning point for a nation?
HE’S BACK: Remember When 2025 — 365 Days That Shook the Global Order examines the year that reshaped American governance and forced institutions, markets, and allies around the world to recalibrate. Following Donald Trump’s return to the presidency, this audiobook traces the first twelve months of a second administration defined not by restoration, but by confrontation between executive authority and entrenched institutions.
From the opening weeks of executive action to clashes with courts, federal agencies, and state governments, the year unfolded as a period of rapid policy shifts and institutional tension. Immigration enforcement, energy expansion, and regulatory reversals became the front lines of a broader struggle over who ultimately controls the machinery of government.
At the same time, parallel conflicts emerged across the media landscape, the technology sector, and the global arena. Allies adjusted their strategies. Adversaries reassessed American power. Financial markets recalculated political risk. Within Washington, long-standing assumptions about authority, accountability, and institutional limits were tested in real time.
Supporters viewed the moment as a long-overdue correction—an effort to restore executive leadership and challenge bureaucratic inertia. Critics saw a presidency intensifying pressure on institutions designed to restrain political power. Both perspectives pointed to a deeper reality: the American political system itself was being pushed into a new phase.
More than a political chronicle, HE’S BACK explores how leadership, institutions, and public momentum collided during one of the most consequential years in modern American politics.
2025 did not simply reopen old debates. It changed the frame of them.

    The Shifting Twenty-First...

The role and range of the American presidency has undergone significant changes in the twenty-first century, with George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden transforming the office in distinct ways. Many but not all of these changes stem from the numerous crises of this young century: 9/11 and the resulting war on terror, Hurricane Katrina, the Great Recession, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the social unrest of 2020.

While crisis brings rapid change, there are other factors at work as well. Increased polarization has led presidents of both parties to press existing rules and norms to their limits in an attempt to accomplish more during their brief tenures. The result is a lot of policy and structural change in a short period, including new cabinet departments, new election rules, and significantly increased spending and debt, among other things. For the most part, these changes have occurred with little thought to what it all means for the functionality and stability of our democratic institutions and, consequently, our nation's capacity to address the needs as well as the aspirations of the American people. The Bipartisan Policy Center's Tevi Troy has brought together a group of presidential scholars and political experts to address these important issues and to reflect on how the presidency has changed and what it might mean for the future.
