Charles Dickens created some of the world's best-known fictional characters and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime and, by the 20th century, critics and scholars had recognized him as a literary genius. After the success of A Christmas Carol in 1843 Dickens continued the series throughout the 1840s, maintaining what he called "the Carol philosophy" to "strike a sledgehammer blow" for the poor, uneducated, and repressed. In typical fashion he drove his message home with a mixture of humor and good cheer. Although subsequent Christmas books sold well at the time of their initial release, they have not enjoyed the staying power of A Christmas Carol. The Christmas books, particularly The Chimes, the Cricket, and the Carol, were the centerpiece of Dickens' public reading tours in the 1850s and 60s with A Christmas Carol far and away the most popular with audiences. Dickens discontinued the Christmas books after The Haunted Man, devoting his time to the publication of weekly magazines, Household Words (1850-1858) and All the Year Round (1859-1867), in which he included annual Christmas stories. Henceforth Dickens was forever linked with the celebration of Christmas. We present them here as a special Icon classic five audiobook collection.

A violent accident leaves Thomas Dunbar in the care of a peculiar, brilliant, and oddly evasive scientist named Lawrence. As Dunbar recovers, he becomes entangled in the strange hum of unseen machines, secret experiments, and a life-or-death emergency that reveals he now possesses a strength no ordinary man should have. Something happened in that laboratory—something Lawrence never intended. And Dunbar soon realizes that the truth behind his new abilities may be far more dangerous than the accident that brought him there.
Francis Stevens, writing here under the name G. M. Barrows, was one of the most influential early voices in American speculative fiction. Often called “the woman who invented dark fantasy,” she shaped the genre long before it had a name, blending scientific imagination with eerie atmospheres and psychological tension. Her work appeared in the top magazines of the era, where readers were captivated by her originality, her bold ideas, and her ability to blend science, mystery, and the uncanny into something wholly new. The Curious Experience of Thomas Dunbar showcases her talent for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary—and the extraordinary into something unforgettable.

There's a Chinese spymaster in DC stealing US Special Ops war plans, a nest of Chinese agents inside Fort Bragg, a Chinese Navy task force headed into the South China Sea to create mischief, and they just shot up Bob Burke’s new pickup truck! Yes, trouble’s brewing in Sherwood Forest, and it isn’t a pot of green tea. He's a mild-mannered, slight of build, telecommunications company executive, often dismissed as the "telephone guy." But after four tours running 'special operations' missions in Iraq and in the rugged mountains of Afghanistan as an Army Ranger and Delta Force commander, he's one of the most lethal weapons the US government ever produced.
And when The Ghost gets the call, he and ‘Ace’ Randall don't hesitate to help. Time to bring out the Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifles, turn The Geeks loose, and call in some Delta pals from Fort Bragg. A possible world war is is building in the South Pacific and it wouldn't be fair to leave The Merry Men out of the fun, would it?
Looking for a good beach book? This fast-moving conspiracy thriller is from the author of Burke's War, Burke's Gamble, Burke's Revenge, Burke's Samovar, Burke's Mandarin, Burke's Rescue, Burke's Machete, Burke's Double Down, Burke's Hit Man, and the new Burke's Justice, plus The Undertaker, Amongst My Enemies, Thursday at Noon, Winner Lose All, and Aim True, My Brothers, as well as the Our Vietnam War series, Volumes 1-4, with interviews and photos from 240 American and allied Veterans.
