A saint named Mahavatar Babaji lived in the Himalayas. One day, Jesus Christ appeared to him and told Babaji to send someone to the west to remind his people that the goal of life is to become one with God through inner communion. That person was Paramahansa Yogananda.

"Show[s] how deep reading habits help us manage distraction and bring about individual and communal flourishing."--Christianity Today

This book helps readers develop practices that will result in deep, formative, and faithful reading so they can contribute to the flourishing of their communities and cultivate their own spiritual and intellectual depth.

The authors present reading as a remedy for three prevalent cultural vices--distraction, hostility, and consumerism--that impact the possibility of formative reading. Informed by James K. A. Smith's work on "the spiritual power of habit," Deep Reading provides resources for engaging in formative and culturally subversive reading practices that teach readers how to resist vices, love virtue, and desire the good.

Rather than emphasizing the spiritual benefits of reading specific texts such as Dante's Divine Comedy or Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the authors focus on the practice of reading itself. They examine practices many teachers, students, and avid readers employ--such as reading lists, reading logs, and discussion--and demonstrate how such practices can be more effectively and intentionally harnessed to result in deep reading. The practices apply to any work that is meant to be read deeply.

Dear friends, Christ is yours. Christ as he comes in the power of the Holy Spirit is yours. Are you longing to have Him, to have the perfect Christ Jesus? Come, then, and see how, amid the glories of his Godhead – His having been in the form of God and equal to God; amid the glories of His incarnation – His having become a man; amid the glories of His atonement – His having been obedient to death; and amid the glories of His exaltation, which is the chief and brightest glory, He humbled Himself from heaven down to earth and on earth down to the cross.
He humbled Himself to bear the name and show the meekness and die the death of the Lamb of God. And what is it we now need to do? How are we to be saved by this humility of Jesus? It is a solemn question, but thank God, the answer can be given. First, we must desire it above everything. Let us learn to pray God to deliver us from every vestige of pride, for this is a cursed thing. Let us learn to set aside for a time other things in the Christian life and begin to plead with the Lamb of God day by day, “O Lamb of God, I know Thy love, but I know so little of Thy meekness.” Come day after day, and lay your heart against His heart, and say to Him with strong desire: “Jesus, Lamb of God, give, oh, give me Thyself, with Thy meekness and humility,” and He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him.

There is a bounty on the head of every man, an asking price that must be paid. Without payment, man becomes tangled in the weeds of life, never breaking free to pursue the dream of his heart or his purpose. One man stepped forward to pay the debt, and now there is an answer, a paid in full answer to free man from the plagues of darkness.
Somewhere out there exists a God who can rectify and restore, who can truly make crooked places straight, who can repair the breach, who can make all things work together for good; if we choose to love Him. By its definition, religion should be the way that is right, where the end is not destruction. That is the reason God never offers Himself to man as religion; God offers Himself as a Father. Father means, there is a personal deal between God and His children, and the treasures of love that He offers will heal and perfect the heart.
Blood was the currency used to release the soul from bondage because it is the most effective source of power in the Earth and in the Heavens. For those who have not been rendered callous by the deeds and promises of an unfulfilling religion, the soul still waits for truth. Break free from the prison of failure and defeat with this companion guide to prosperity. Build success in layers by discovering the truths that govern the most powerful currency of life, blood.
