Sinossi

In the novella "From Russia with Chilli and Garlic Sauce," the legend of Johnny Two Kebabs is revealed as being an astonishing reality. For years, the world has questioned the existence of this larger-than-life character, dismissing him as an urban myth or a product of Irish folklore. But now, in his own words, Johnny Two Kebabs steps out of the shadows to set the record straight.
This is the man who, on 15th June 2011, after drinking 13 pints of lager, polished off two doner kebabs in 1 minute and 59 seconds. Here, he writes candidly about his experiences in the high-stakes world of international intrigue and seduction as he pulls back the curtain on London's dark underbelly.
Amidst assassins, Irish pubs, kebab shops, and under the influence of super-strength lager, Johnny recounts how he thwarted a Russian assassination plot on British soil. As he navigates the perilous world of high-stakes intrigue, he paints a vivid picture of a life filled with danger, passion, beer and the doner kebab.

A historian chronicles the life of the Union Civil War general while recounting his own unusual journey during his investigation into the past. Who was George Gordon Meade? He should be remembered as one of the Civil War’s most important generals. Instead, history has pushed him aside. The hot-tempered Meade received command of the Union’s dysfunctional Army of the Potomac only three days before he defeated Robert E. Lee’s Confederates at Gettysburg. After that, Meade watched his reputation decline, thanks in part to the escape of Lee’s army, hostility from politicians and the press, the machinations of Gen. Daniel Sickles, and the rise of Ulysses S. Grant. “I suppose after a while,” Meade once grumbled, “it will be discovered I was not at Gettysburg at all.” The Rodney Dangerfield of Civil War generals, Meade gets no respect—and author Tom Huntington wanted to find out why. In Searching for George Gordon Meade, he tells the story of the general’s life and his participation in the Civil War’s great engagements, from George McClellan’s Richmond Campaign to Appomattox. Huntington also provides accounts of his own investigations of Meade’s legacy. Along the way he hikes across battlefields, recites the names of fallen soldiers at a candlelit ceremony at Gettysburg, drinks a champagne toast at Meade’s grave on New Year’s Eve, and visits a severed leg, a buried arm, and a horse’s head. The result is a quirky and compelling mash-up of history, biography, travel, and journalism that casts new light on an overlooked figure from the past. Praise for Searching for George Gordon Meade“Unique and irresistible.” —Harold Holzer, chairman of Lincoln Bicentennial Foundation“Huntington’s wry, boisterous biography-within-a-travel journal . . . strives to remake the reputation of Meade and offers a compelling new way to approach biography.” —John G. The water cycle, also known as the hydrological cycle, is a continuous and dynamic process that moves water throughout the Earth's atmosphere, surface, and underground reservoirs. This cycle plays a vital role in sustaining ecosystems, regulating climate, and supporting human life. Water undergoes various transformations as it moves through different stages, driven by the energy of the sun and the force of gravity.
One of the fundamental processes of the water cycle is evaporation, where water from oceans, lakes, rivers, and even soil turns into water vapor due to heat from the sun. Plants also contribute to this process through transpiration, where they release moisture from their leaves into the air. Together, these processes add significant amounts of water vapor to the atmosphere. As the air rises and cools, this vapor undergoes condensation, forming clouds composed of tiny water droplets or ice crystals.
When these droplets combine and become heavy enough, precipitation occurs in the form of rain, snow, sleet, or hail. Precipitation is the primary way water returns to the Earth's surface, replenishing water bodies and providing essential moisture for plant and animal life. Depending on the terrain and environmental conditions, this water can take several different paths. Some of it infiltrates into the ground, recharging underground aquifers in a process known as groundwater recharge. Other portions of the water flow overland as surface runoff, eventually collecting in rivers, lakes, and oceans. This runoff helps shape landscapes by eroding and transporting sediments over time.
