  Written under the pseudonym "Carolus", Lyrics & Lines is a book of poems written, probably circa 1890 - 1900, as a gift to one he had loved and lost.Love, Humour,  Moralisation and the Macabre all come together in a most readable and enjoyable manner. Who he was, when and exactly where he lived and his age at the time he wrote this book  are unknown. That he was a modest man can be gleaned from his description of himself as "...a poetaster". Beautifully written; these poems should not only appeal to lovers of poetry but to those who would never normally consider reading verse.

  Echoing the pastoral and elegiac modes of the Romantic poets, whose reverence for nature never prevented them from addressing it with all the ideas and sensibilities their times allowed, Sina Queyras's stunning collection explores the infrastructures and means of modern mobility. Addressing the human project not so much as something imposed on nature but as an increasingly disturbing activity within it, Expressway exposes the paradox of modern mobility: the more roads and connections we build, the more separate we feel.   As a poetical movement Georgian Poetry is easy to classify.  It began naturally enough in 1910 when George V ascended to the throne of England.  Edward Marsh, a civil servant, polymath and arts patron decided that the verse of that time needed to be seen in its own right and from 1912 – 1922 set out to publish anthologies. Marsh agreed a deal with the poet and bookseller Harold Munro, who had recently opened The Poetry Bookshop in London’s Devonshire Street to publish the books in return for a share of the profits.   Five volumes spanning some forty poets ranging from Rupert Brooke to GK Chesterton and DH Lawrence were published over the years and remain today the encyclopaedia of this poetical period.
